SFC/RGS owners...

...can I have your attention, please? OK - I think I have it by now, else you would not read this...

Could you please check the Frame-Number on your bikes headstock and give me an indication for the following:

RGS: is there any RGS that has a frame-number with the syntax: LAV1000RGS/1*XXXX*?

SFC: is there any SFC that has a frame-number with the syntax: LAV1000RGS/2*XXXX* or LAV1000RGS/3*XXXX*?

The background is that I was checking some things regarding my recent acquisitions and got the info from someone that the RGS/1 is an RGS frame and /2 and /3 would be SFC-Frames. All of my SFC's have RGS/1 though, which would mean I have 3 fakes - which I seriously doubt...

So - if anyone has an RGS with /1 on it or an SFC with /2 or /3, it would be great if you could send me a pic.

If you find your SFC has /1, please let me know also

If you find your RGS has just RGS* without the /1, no need to post but welcome to do so. However, if you have an RGS that would have /3 or /2, I would be more than happy for an info, please!!

Oh - and if /2 and /3 exist - does anyone know the differences, please?!?!

Thanks for your help!! :-)

Lothar

Lothar, You already know this one but just to help get the ball rolling here is a Sprint frame I once owned

Hi Scrumpy,

yes, thanks. Still wonder why this frame has a /2 when the 1000SFC's (at least the 3 I have) that were built later had RGS/1 on them...

Thanks Dick for reconfirming your RGS-frame number.

I mean - we all know that the SFC is basically a RGS Corsa with different bodywork, suspension, brakes and rims. However, I like to know a bit more about that model and the more we can cary together, the better we could make up a file for the Wiki (or what ever it will be called one day again...) to keep those information.

Lothar,
My formner RGS didn't have that "/1" designation.
My SFC1000 have that "/1*3069*" designation.

All other SFC1000's i know of in Denmark bear the "/1" likewise (and they are original).

I fully agree with you on that idea of some sort of a database for that bike.

Cheers,
jacques.

BTW: found a bit more out regarding my 0001 bike...:

-according to Piero Laverda, it is non of the Factory prototypes (yes, there were more than one, no, he did not answer me if he knows where they have gone to yet).
-it is a special, built for Uwe Witt, the inventor of the SFC 1000.
-it was built to the specs of the Series one, but prior to the first delivery of the SFC series.
-I was told that it was built based on an RGS, as the SFC frames had not been homologated yet. Not 100% sure on that one...

More to follow as soon as I discover more things... ;)

Lothar,

Two differences between the frames will be the additional lug for anchoring the rear brake torque arm and the mounting bracket for the rear brake M/C of the 1000 SFC.

Mine (3354, reinforcement gussets to the headstock fitted directly at the factory) had the "/1" designation.

Hi Lothar,

I will get back to you when I get home later this week.

jlo,
Do you have a photo of the reinforcement gussets to the headstock?
I am trying to understand if mine has them or not.
Thanks

Bruce

Hi Lothar,

I have had a look at my bikes today and have found,

RGS - RGS*10XX*
RGS - RGS*18XX*
RGA - RGS/1*22XX*

It looks like the RGA frames may have been given the /1 for some reason.

I hope this helps.

I'll send you a picture tonight.

mmhhh - from the feedback I get here, I can see that somewhere in the 22xx range or a bit earlier, the standard RGS/RGA etc. frame was named /1 then. Why the SFC's had /1, too, although slightly modified - not sure. Why the frame Scrumpy had was /2 - not sure. seams /3 is a rumor up to now...

does make one wonder if the /1 represented a modified version
perhaps some detail change with enough significance to change the homologation
are there differences in the DGM numbers?

i'm not so sure the /1 had anything to do with the RGA in particular
they were just produced after the original RGS and would have later sequence numbers

cheers,
scott

btw: there is a nice thread about polishing alloy going on, JLO...  :P

Just kidding... Thanks for the pic!! I will check what my bikes have different when ever I find the time to remove their "clothing" and make pictures (after the polishing...  :-[)..

Cheers

Lothar
