EGLI 750

so do I Andy, but you never know! and if I ever see a 247cc Honda six advertised, I will be on a plane pronto since there is one somewhere in the world on the missing list, keep looking. Its the same old story I suppose, the basis is there all right, but the outward visuals make me wonder of the unseen, the price has to be right and its not.

its not sin saver, (a few of them in a box would be good though) but shin shaver, the term comes from Slaters in the early 70's when a foot is applied to the axle nut spanner for tightness, and it slips and the shin is then shaved on the early slash cut silencer ends, more or less the same thing as on an SFC, except they are upswept out of the way and cut/shut to keep them folded in., so in reality they are knee slicers.

Modern bikes with high level exhausts have ball slicers.

This was the ad on car and classic when it was last sold:
Just came across this thread and realised I had been in contact with the owner in Jan 2020. I don't recall if I downloaded the photos or the seller sent them to me. Here they are. I did have some email exchanges with the seller up in North Wales. The log book shows it as a Egli Laverda being first registered 02/08/1977, engine and frame numbers have been deliberately covered with a piece of paper, and the previous keeper living in Scotland. Might help shed some light on the bike.

Hi Ian,
Are still the owner of the Egli laverda currently on Car and Classic? I was doing some research on them and found your only post on The laverda Forum.

If you are the owner please could you advise me of the frame number. What style is the original tank? Do you have any pics of it in it's former days?

Regards Jack

Hello jack
Yes I,m still the owner <image2.jpeg>
The bike was from a deceased estate in Scotland
The bike was in the house
Had been in there for over 30 years
Never had it running but was advised the engine was rebuilt prior to storage
The original race tank was sold prior to me buying the bike
But I acquired a replacement recently
The frame and engine numbers match four numbers
The frame has no number the number is on alloy engine plate
The crankcases were new
Both engine and frame numbers were stamped by graham binion
Pics enclosed

Hi Ian
Thanks for the very quick response with info and pics. The seat unit looks much nicer here.

Does the frame number start with "EVLGB"?

Does the tank look like the one in the attached pic?

Cheers Jack

Hello jack
The tank I have is a period egli tank
Not like the picture sorry
Peter Bates road the bike I,m in contact with him regular
The bike was built for racing by slater brothers and graham binion
So no chassis numbers needed
Frame and engine numbers added when converted to road use by slaters
The numbers are like 2456
That it
Says same on logbook
Hope this helps
Regards
Ian
