Barbecue thread (all welcome)

I’d love to go to one of the Yankee cook off things. But, 6-8 hours on the piss watching the proceedings would be too much, I’d be too pissed to eat.

The pig on the spit I did about 10 years ago gave me a doozy of a hangover 🤕
The Pitmaster shows up at 6 am and starts cooking, you rock up at noon and start drinking and start listening to these guys for 2 hours, and then you eat barbeque
and drink bourbon

 In one of his biographies a raised platform 3ft from the ground to sleep on above coastal water whilst cutting timber in either Florida,Virginia or West Indies areas,So more North America than Oz.areas.,.Chopsticks and Avocado were other he first used.

He was the first to use chopsticks? 我非常怀疑

"Where did the word barbecue come from?

The word barbecue comes from the language of a Caribbean Indian tribe called the Taino. Their word for grilling on a raised wooden grate is barbacoa. The word first appeared in print in a Spanish explorer's account of the West Indies in 1526, according to Planet Barbecue."

Only about 130 years before William Dampier was born but don't let that get in the way of a good story:p And therefore it must have been in use by the original language speakers for many years prior to that

He was apparently logged as the first to use the word as a noun.

Do you have a flag?

OK I ll concede to the Taino Davo , and adjust to the first Brit to use the word Davo. One thing for sure its not Aussie in origin, but then "thong" is an interesting change of use by you guys. eh. ;)

We have our own flag now, well most of it, and hopefully soon all of it and the only queens will be in Sydney at Mardi Gras and not telling us what to do from Buck House. ;):D😘

Some of Team BFN may well remember the small, but heartfelt ceremony I gave after one of my thongs blew out at the 70th. The ceremony was held as my thongs went in the rubbish bin outside Ricardo’s villa.

Last weekend, another chapter closed.

I spent 10 days in Spain, awaiting for the other Team members to arrive. Each day I would do day rides, and in the main, that was fun. One day I headed out and ended up at a petrol station, chatting to a Pommy bloke on his BMW that was day tripping too. It was there that I purchased a salami and cheese, preprepared sandwich. Which I ate while chatting.

No sooner had I jumped back on the bike and my stomach started rumbling. After about a few hours, the rumble changed to cramps and there was, without question, some serious gastronomic issues going on in my gut.

I had only 15 minutes to make it back to my digs, on a very quiet back road.

I needed to pee, so pulled up and struggled to get my tackle out of my leather pants, mid flow, the gastronomic issues came to the fore, and before I knew it, a warm sensation in my undies alerted me that all was not well.

Down came the leathers, and a half squat by the roadside saw me expelling said issues. Which, as per Murphy’s Law, was when two BMW riders came past, all I could do was wave, while shaking my head in embarrassment.

Back at the digs, I washed all my clothes, however, my mid blue undies had sections where the die had been bleached by the remnants of the sandwich.

Oddly, when the majority of my undies disappeared from the clothes line in Breganze ...... these bleached ones remained.

I’ve often laughed when pulling these out of the draw, remembering the weirdness of that situation.

The elastic has since given up, so I threw them in the bin. My wife saw them there and said “It’s about time you threw those out”

If only she knew the back story to them.

Don't be too harsh on the salami sanga CK. Even with really high concentration of bugs in food it takes a couple of hours to start affecting the eater, and usually starts with vomiting when the load is big. Diarrhoea takes much longer to start, so it was probably something you ate/drank at breakfast, or the night before.

Either way, excellent story. Had a near similar event this weekend just gone while on a weekender with the boys. I did manage to make it to the public toilets at one of our many "ups" before the explosion. ( I can't find the "explosive diarrhoea" emoji) I blame the bottle of liquid licorice (Sambucca) some kind soul brought along, but then it could have been the roadside pasty.

Now Chris, I feel there is a bit of implied blame on the BMW riders (or was the BMW mentions just a red herring)!?
I kept reading and fully expected that they at least pulled up and called you a "dirty antipodean kant" or some such.
But no, apparently just innocently riding by trying to enjoy the scenery!!
BTW, that's what you get for wearing kinky leather pants:ROFLMAO:

Getting read for tonight’s dinner. Lamb Kofta, with red onion, tomato, lettuce and tzatziki or hommus in La Banderita….. god, I almost wrote La Banditoes, wraps.

Oh, and ribs from last night.
