Hi, I'm new to Laverda ownership after being seduced by this old girl at a motorcycle auction local to me. Mechanically the bike rides really well, and has been well looked after mechanically over the years, but in common with a most 40 year old, unrestored, bikes , she's showing her age cosmetically, so I'm starting the process of a refurbishment.

This forum has already given me some history on the RGA1000 Sprint, and I know from the previous owner that this was originally a Laverda orange colour scheme, but Three Cross MCs painted some ( an indeterminate number) of the Sprints black. As the bodywork is in real need of refurbishment (multiple stress fractures in the fairing), I have the opportunity to return the bike back to it's original Laverda Orange. To me that would be far more interesting to look at the solid black of the Three Cross respray. However, I would appreciate thoughts from others on that.

I always thought a two tone orange and black on an RGS or Sprint would look good but never came up with a layout for it. Probably need some more creative, like an Italian, to figure it out.

are you sure it is (was) not a Corsa??
look very carefully at the front of the cam chain tunnel near the exhaust ports, if you see CR stamped in badly and not in line then .........BINGO
you will need a clean rag and some spirit, maybe petrol to clean the area of the cam chain tunnel and use a torch.
