The Things Which Get Squirrelled Away

When I started with motorsport we had a version of endurance events with normal street bikes mostly at the Nürburgring. In 1977we paid 50 DM for 17 rounds which were about 400 Km. Today 1 Round is about the same 30 €. 😄View attachment 94916

RD400 ? ......... although the clocks look a little like Kawasaki ......... Yep ..... I reckon it could be a KH400 ........ although I can`t quite make out the exhausts ...........

Nice finds! I only have the Laverda since a few weeks, but it did come with some old finds from my dad back in the day :)
The invoice reads: 2 bearings (Fl 150), conrod (and something illegable, Fl 125), and work (Fl. 250) for a total of 525 guilders back in december 1987. (with me being 9 years old at that time!)
The "all about your motorbike" book is a plus version of the instuction manual and a light version of parts catalogues and workshop manual it seems at first glance. Nevertheless it's still useful probably, even if all the pages are loose.

Because all Laverdas look better without them

Maybe yes .... maybe no ........... but at 90 mph on the motorway , and with other traffic closing in behind me at 100 mph ...... ( normal cruising speed for most cars nowadays ) ....... I prefer to be able indicate to them that I intend to change lanes ............. staying alive and all that ............ :) ..............

Early 3C`s probably look better without them , though .............

I like the indicators!
Not only for the safety aspect. Wouldn't the roads be a whole lot safer if car drivers could learn to use their indicators. Here, in the UK, many don't bother at all. Others start the manoeuvre, before they indicate what they are already doing. 🤬
Indicators also nicely balance the front end view of the bike, IMO.

Yes I agree ........... When I said early 3C`s , I meant that the very early ones ( circa 1973 ) didn`t always have them fitted anyway ........ but on balance I prefer the look of them fitted ...........

When you know they should be fitted , but are`nt ......... then the result always sticks out like a sore thumb ...... ( I reckon ) ...........

I recently had a large SUV pull over to the left (no indicator), looking for all the world like it was about to be parked, only to suddenly instigate a U-turn, the indicator going on when it was perpendicular to me ... I was so close to overtaking it as it pulled off to the left. One of those hair stands up on the back of your neck situations. The weird thing was I'm sure they knew I was behind them. Talk about total lack of commonsense.

It can happen THAT easily.

Commonsense isn’t common enough…
A while ago my mate failed to avoid a similar scenario involving a u-turning van, lucky to survive, just about broke him in half. His pelvis X-ray looked like a handful of gravel. Has to ride a canam now.

I had the same from a green P plater in an Audi in my car the other day. My first car accident 40 years ago was the same with a Taxi. Dumb never learns. BTW I moded my rear blinker mount to shorten it on both sides, mine was stupidly wide right in my foot ark when getting on the bike.
