Out and About on your Laverda. No bull,Just photos

VMCC IOM Section run to Norman Cowin’s today (the gentleman in the middle of the photo) for tea and lots of cake. And by the look of it, more Laverdas present than at the Laverda event above. 🤗

Back from a weekend trip where I accompanied friends to a BMW flat twin meet. Beautiful location and a lovely meet-up.

Way back ended up in the rain – but was nice anyways ...

I like the colour of the 350. I saw a 500 in the same colour a few years ago in Norway and thought it suited the bikes. However, the Morini is of course (IMHO) the worst colour. 😝

Southern 100 races got off to a bad start with a bad smash in qualifying and then last night the weather intervened (oh what a surprise). The ‘big’ bike race was called off after the sighting lap as one or two ‘stars’ didn’t fancy it following a brief bit of drizzle. There was then a delay while they switched to the ‘little’ bikes by which time it started to rain after the first lap so the race was red flagged.
Hopefully tonight won’t have the same issues as the weather is finally set to improve from later on today.

Are the Pirones still running the show?

Did you get a tour of the tower? Very interesting!!

piet

Hi Piet, the Pirone family (now the children) still run the "Villa Löwenherz" in Lauenförde. However, old Mr. Pirone still lives at the Tonenburg. It's leased to Gesine and Pete, who also run the shop. I think they've been doing so for more than ten years now. And no, I haven't (yet) been given a tour of the tower ...

Must be tricky getting the weather required for safe racing, Andy.
Fortunately a change for the better today, with sunshine and hardly any wind. Watching from church bends on Monday you could barely stand at times, but by contrast this evening it’s was a case of sheltering from the sun rather than the wind.
All the planned races were run plus the abandoned twins race from yesterday. New lap records in 4 of the races, including an outright lap record by the Crowe boys in the sidecars.
Weather for tomorrow is set fair so should be a cracking days racing.
