it was surprisingly unstable in a straight line, but ok in the corners. He’s recently told me that the machine had bicycles tires, older tires. He’s since installed proper tires for a bike of this era. It has a limited top
Speed, perhaps 35kmhr, 22mph, so very careful choice of roads much be picked to be legal . Highways are off the list!
 
The point of the video is apparently Modern Violins produce measurably better sounds, but some 400-year-old ones sell for 3000% more. Some interesting points re Branding and the first arrival of Marketing in the 20th century. Swap motorcycles for Violins. Or investors to enthusiasts, Most owners of these Violins don't play them. Hi-end collector bikes being so expensive it takes the pleasure out of riding them. The interesting bit in the comparison is the Ageing out of bike owners, not so much in Violin owners, though. Another bit I liked was Art surpassing Science. Why I like my Laverdas

You can't measure the quality of an instrument and certainly not on a video.

There's always pleasure in riding a motorcycle, whatever it's price, as for a violinist, there's pleasure in playing a Stradivarius.

How we used to live ........... Rungis Market , Paris ........ Laverda 750 twins feature right from the start ..............

If I recall , there was a particular corner that tended to be covered in vegetable rubbish from the stalls which created problems for the riders .......

Read ... Pasolini .... Ago ..... Chevallier ..... Findlay ..... Mortimer .....Palomo ......Sheene ...... plus many more ........ No one liked it , but the money was good .........

BTW ....... The 500 Linto is two side by side Aermacchi horizontal 250`s .........


Mick Grant recalled being warned about dips and crests on one of the straights ........ during the race he navigated one , but didn`t realise another followed almost immediately afterwards ..........

Taken by surprise he became airborne and landed the Norton on top of Agostini`s MV, taking both of them out of the race ............

Agostini wasn`t best pleased ........ nor were the crowd presumably , having paid good money to see the World Champion in action .........



It was at this meeting that Kawasaki H1R rider Dave Simmonds lost his life later that evening , when a fire broke out in Jack Findlay`s caravan ..................

Thinking Findlay`s mother , or maybe Findlay`s girlfriend Nanou was inside , he entered the blazing caravan to try and help , only for a gas canister to explode at that very moment ...........

Rungis used to be the meeting place for wanabe racers with deadly results.
The last person killed there was a girl called Carole.
Her name was given to the track open to all built just North of Paris just after that.
There should be a lot more like that.

We had a track like that just outside Lille. It's now closed, the local authorities having found plenty of reasons to take over a piece of valuable real estate.

Wanabe racers are now back to dying on the roads.

That`s interesting / sad ........... I`ve got a Performance Bikes magazine from 1998 where a R1 , ZX9R , FireBlade , and 916 are ridden over from England to Circuit Carole for some track time testing ........ Never realised the connection regarding the naming of this circuit .

Also sadly , three of the testers are no longer with us ......... ( riding a scooter ..... collision with a marshal at the TT ..... and natural causes afaik ...... ) .......

After the circuit test the bikes were ridden down to the French Riviera ......... parked outside a hotel overnight ........ and promptly nicked ......... all four of them !!! .......

There`s a video on YouTube......... " Performance Bikes - Lost in France ....... " ....... which details the whole ( mis ) adventure ..........
