The following two Laverda bikes will be up for auction on Iconic Motor Bikes within the next day or two.

1984 Laverda RGS 1000 Executive
https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1984-laverda-rgs-1000-executive-with-1353-miles/

1999 Laverda Formula 750S
https://iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1999-laverda-750s-formula-3/

Both bikes were a part of a private collection and are extremely low mileage bikes that are in excellent condition. Spreadsheet the word to anyone looking for a well cared for and low mileage original Laverda motorcycle.

They both look to me like good condition bikes and certainly worth consideration if you are in the market for those particular models and live that side of the pond. The exec hasn’t got standard exhaust, they look like Wolfgang’s after market cans to me.

It's a very minor point but it's a pity they haven't sorted out the fit of the seat at the back on the Executive which is further exaggerated when the cowl is in place. To use the technical term, it looks proper cock-eyed over the rear light! Agree with Andy that the cans are non standard. Otherwise, it looks in fantastic condition and it will be interesting to see what price it achieves. Remarkably low mileage.

Quote from one of the photo descriptions: “Other than an aftermarket camera mounted on the bike, it is completely stock and original."

What complete, utter bullshit!

Braided brake and clutch lines, oil cooler lines and connectors, fork brace, exhaust system, disc centres painted gold, incorrect fasteners all over the bike, incorrect handlebars and pad (despite the Executive model described as being fitted with higher bars!), handlebar grips, bar end weights, wonky seat cowl, primary and alternator covers obviously chromed, trim lines missing from grab handles, ubiquitous tape holding indicator lens in place, horns relocated/replaced, seat recovered... probably tons more! Even the friggin' cap of the clutch bleed nipple is missing and I can't remember even the last of the line coming with those horrid plastic coated ignition keys! It's obviously also not been ridden in this condition with the rear brake pedal sticking up into the sky like that. Engine doesn't seem that hot either, sounds like carbs out of synch and some chain clashing coming from the primary case.

Not nit-picking the bike, it's obviously a well stored example in seemingly very good cosmetic condition and possibly deserves to fetch a decent price. But wtf can't sellers provide an honest, realistic description? And no, I'm not complaining the Breganze air is missing from the tyres, quite clear the original Pirellis will have long been rotted.

All those mods might even make sense on a "riders" bike, but on a static exhibition? What baffles me is why on earth has such a low-mileage, mostly static machine "needed" so many mods? If the mileage really is original, why has so much needed to be replaced? Especially the stock bar grips are just about indestructable and the stock clutch hose was teflon, just coated black. Seat cover worn out at under 1400 miles? Doesn't fit in my mind set. A must-have toy to tinker on while it's raining outside?

Exhaust silencers are Laverda bits, part #63503193 in Wagner's catalog-I would suspect supplied by Wolfgang

Correct-Seat cowl fit was rectified, seller will update pics.

Good eye on what is original or not on the Executive, but all that is lost to those not familiar w a 50 yr old brand like Laverda. That exhaust looks funky and the Formula was the Zane to have back in the day, correct? Will be interesting to see what they go for since Iconic caters more towrds modern sport bikes.

May be so, but the point I was making was the bike is very unlikely to have left the factory with them fitted.
However, I still hope both bikes find good new homes and the new owners ride them unlike the previous owner(s).

It's a puzzle for sure, and anybody's guess really. My own would be, given the 1st owner had it for 8 years covering only 500 miles, is that perhaps he had a low-speed tumble or parking mishap maybe? That could have been enough to encourage him to leave it parked up, and may explain the replacement silencers, handlebars and some of the other anomalies. I think people who bought new touring versions of any bike would tend to use them, and not purchase them as investments, but who knows. Or, maybe another reason prevented its' use.
The braided lines may've been fitted at some point with a 'better safe than sorry' motive, considering the originals' age. Or maybe as 'bling', along with the chroming and gold paint. Either that, or the bike was put away, mint and original by its' first owner, and all the above was carried out by its' second.
In addition, it says in the description that " the seller is representing the owners' estate", so maybe the actual owner has passed away, or is incapable of providing full details? If that's the case, then it's unlikely that friends/loved ones would know its' history chapter and verse, so to speak? It doesn't say, but I wonder if any removed parts may be included in the sale?
You would really need to see it to know what you may be up against. But at first glance it should make a very nice and useable bike, hopefully.
P.S. It says in the description that this bike is one of a collection of 8 machines, including 3 Laverdas. If not sold already, maybe the third one will be listed for sale at some point?

With any forty year old bike you have to read through the lines of the sellers description ......... especially so with an auction ...........

The auctioneer isn`t the seller after all , merely the agent ........ details about originality won`t particularly worry them in their " description " ............

All they will be interested in the best return for themselves , and the seller .............. their descriptions are more often than not paragraphs lifted from contemporary articles or reviews , rather than an accurate picture of the machine actually under the hammer ............ Although in this case there is some info regarding the bike`s history ....... from the friend of the owners wife by the sound of it ............

I wouldn`t really expect any selling agent to know what constitutes " original " ....... unless he is a enthusiast / specialist ......... and as Piet says , it`s difficult to comprehend why such a low mileage bike has attracted so many disparate extras .............

Take each description with a pinch of salt .......... those who know will know ....... those who don`t know either don`t care , or will continue onwards in ignorant bliss .........

If you buy at an auction , you buy with your eyes .......... the description is never going to mean very much ......... What you see is what you get ...........

Not getting that Executive cowl straight before posting images is just crap laziness though .......... Although as I said before , the auctioneers won`t care ....... ........... they will just take it for granted that the buyer will sort it out ...........

Other stuff I wouldn`t worry about too much ....... I might repaint those disc carriers , although they will probably soon get dirty and discolour with a bit of use ...... replacement braided brake lines are a potential life saver obviously .......... and the rev counter works !!

Very unlikely/impossible. These silencers hit the market a good 5-10 years after the blinds went down in Breganze...

A german saying goes "Papier ist geduldig" ie "Paper is uncomplaining", meaning paper won't complain about anything written upon it, neither will a bit of tin complain about a random number being stamped onto it. Just 'cos it carries an OE Laverda part number doesn't mean it's legit. This practice has been going on for ages, especially in regard to aftermarket exhaust systems where a specific number may be the decider if a vehicle passes scrutiny or not.

A line such as "completely stock/original" will attract numpties with pockets full of cash and too lazy to do any homework. Once they've tired of their toy, they will repeat the same blurb to attain the highest possible price, looking for the next gullible punter. Repeat a lie often enough, it becomes truth, a concept currently in world-wide use by the political right. Our current state of affairs shows how well it works.

I listed a bike -Harley XR1200- on Iconic last July. They assigned a "handler" who did a decent job of vetting me, the pics the bike. Had to answer a list of questions including; length of ownership, known blemishes, mechanical problems & reason for selling.

And earlier this week, I bought one from the "buy-it-now" listings on their site. They handled the back and forth of offer and counteroffer, and took an active role in putting the two of us together and arranging transport, etc.

Shut up and pay and be prepared to pay twice that again to get the machine 100% or sell it on and add to the sales blurb.
Or buy a BMW GS.

It is a shame it attracted no interest at all ............ No bids is more worrying than several exorbitant ones as far as interest in the marque is concerned ......

" It is better to be criticised than completely ignored " ........ ( Elbert Hubbard ) .........

Now maybe if they`d stuck a couple of " Jota " stickers on the side panels .... ( hello Three Cross Motorcycles ) ...... then maybe it would have prompted a couple of bids .........

You can fool some of the people some of the time ..............

Elbert Hubbard eh? And there was me thinking it was something my missus had made up.. :)

My favourite quote is: "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.. " (Monty Python)... .

Mmm, thinking about it, maybe Oscar Wilde got there first.. 😁

A couple of my favourites ..........

" If genius is pain , then I`m in agony ... " .......... ( Charles Dickens ) .......

" Dogs look up to you , cats look down on you ..... but pigs treat you as equals ..... " ........ ( Winston Churchill ) ...........

Not forgetting .......

Lady Astor ....... " If I were your wife Mr Churchill , I would put poison in your whisky .... " .......
Winston Churchill ........ " And if I were your husband madam , I should drink it ....... " .........

" Things are never as good , or as bad , as they first seem ... " ..... ( US Army General Paton ) ...........
