Hi. I'm in Hobart and I'm considering buying a used bike (not a Laverda) from a seller in Melbourne. It's actually located in Brighton so I'm hoping a forum member lives nearby. I was wondering if someone could go and check it out for me, subject to the seller's consent. So far I've only communicated with the seller through the BikeSales website. I don't know his phone number street address yet but as soon as I have that info I'll pass it on to the lucky volunteer.
I'm not after a technical assessment. Basically all I need is confirmation that the sale is legit and the bike actually exists as described. I'm perhaps being a bit over-cautious, but I know someone who paid a deposit for a bike that appeared to be a legitimate online sale only find out it was a scam. The seller disappeared in a puff of virtual smoke after he'd received the money. There's probably some legal recourse if that happens, but who needs the hassle?
Cheers,
Cam
