Don't worry Hamish, that grass will come back.
One of my riding buddies flew Bird dog (Cessna 310) for them back in the day. Their paths may have crossed, Sadly he is not with us anymore (not from flying or riding)Chief Pilot for Air Spray out of Edmonton/Red Deer and I know that they used to do drops in the Rockies.
Joe (Brother in law) spent a ton of time flying up in the Arctic as well (based out of Cambridge Bay and Yellowknife). He spent most of his career up there flying for Adlair (owner was pretty famous in arctic flying circles) and Summit Air which Ledcor eventually bought. He also did a stint with First Air and was Captain of their Herc. One of my riding buddies flew Bird dog (Cessna 310) for them back in the day. Dirk Hadler was his name, a high time helicopter pilot who started his commercial career flying Bell 47s in The arctic. ( actually started his flying career delivering newspapers for the Medicine Hat newspaper flying a Piper J3 cub and throwing them out as he circled the local farm/ranches houses in southern Alberta, (you can't make this stuff up), Was a HD riderJoe (Brother in law) spent a ton of time flying up in the Arctic as well (based out of Cambridge Bay and Yellowknife). When flying for Summit he was primarily in Dornier 228's and actually rebuilt 2 of them in Germany and then puddle jumped one from Germany to Yellowknife.
The other Dornier 228 was sold to a whack job cult leader, some of our Aussie and Kiwi members on the forum likely heard of, his name was Hopeful Christian. I believe he originated from Australia but ultimatley settled in New Zealand and set up a cult called Gloriavale. People can do their own research, but if hell is a real place it's perfect for this asshole.
As an aside I asked Joe not too long ago what happened to the cult Dornier, and he realated that the plane was essentially written off when the whack ass cult decided to repaint it and then proceeded to sand down the airframe, rivets and all, and repaint it with automotive paint.
I'll ask Joe next time I talk to him if he ever knew Dirk. Gotta love that Alberta spirit...... we need more of that in this country. One of my fav drives was from Calgary down 22X to Pincher Creek and then to Waterton Lakes.Dirk Hadler was his name, a high time helicopter pilot who started his commercial career flying Bell 47s in The arctic. Nothing like air pollution for a nice sunset.Fifty-eight days without rain. Plenty of wildfires in the UK, but this is just a sunset over London.

The Mt Pinatubo eruption about 30 years ago gave us superb sunsets for about 12 months ... jet engines didn't like it much tho.Nothing like air pollution for a nice sunset.

I know we could do with the moisture but you really are the wettest of wet blankets !Nothing like air pollution for a nice sunset.

You must be used to those.I know we could do with the moisture but you really are the wettest of wet blankets !
There hasn't been a tropical storm in London since the demise of Victoria.Or maybe the effects of a tropical storm rolling up the Gulf of California and sitting over the Santa Rosas. I was out hiking with 'Peach' the dog when we got drenched by the storm; the sunset made up for it.View attachment 106991
