That is a good tale, Henry. I'm glad to hear you are out and about on 2 wheels. Ahh, yes, the feel-good powers of prednisone, along with a brisk ride on your Laverda, to restore your soul, and life is good. Tupperware with handlebars to keep the cinnamon buns in- good idea.A tale of ironic contradictions and old age. I've not been able to post in this Topic this year as my ongoing condition of sore muscles and joints meant I could not even sit on my Corsa never mind ride it. The riding position just too cramped. In fact in the spring I couldn't even ride my Moto Guzzi Norge as the pegs were too far back and my legs would cramp.
I decided to buy a 2022 Yamaha 1200 Super Tenere hoping the relaxed riding position and cruise control would accomodate me. It worked out pretty good and I was able to do some 400 and 500 km rides. The Tenere is very reliable and easy to maintain. It modern-ish, comfortable, handles easily, and I can manage it starting, stopping and parking it. A bit heavy and tall but narrow center of gravity and wide bars help. BTW I sat on a new BMW GS 1300 and I couldn't get it off the side stand into the up right position....doing Physio now to rebuild my muscle atrophy.
The Tenere has the most boring power band and absolute anemic engine noise....both intake and exhaust, you could imagine. In fact I try NOT to accelerate very fast so I don't have to hear it. You sit bolt upright and are so high off the road its hard to see the white lines below you. So it's quite capable and easy to live with but best compared to a piece of Tupperware you ride.
Last week I was starting to feel more limber and that felt I should be able to finally ride the Corsa. I put on my retro looking, but really just real old leathers, and fired it up. Off I went on about a 100km ride from my cottage heading to my house where I would swap the Corsa for the Tenere and ride back to the cottage. I took the scenic route through some small towns and along the river roads. Beautiful sunny afternoon and quiet roads. Able to go along at whatever speeds I wanted. Got it leaned over a bit on a few curves. Noticed how the riding position and clip on bars give you that sense of being one with bike. Listened to the great intake and exhaust sounds accelerating out of the corners. Years of Laverda memories came back just being on one long awaited ride.
Then I gotta the house and parked the Corsa and got on the Tenere. I had to do an errand first before riding back...pickup my prescription pills, from the Pharmacy, to manage my blood sugar. But I wasn't going to let the feeling of a glorious ride on the Laverda be squashed by medical issues and Tuperware. So I went next door to the bakery and bought some cinnamon buns...full of sugar and other bad shit.
The ride back on the Tuperware Tenere was a contradiction. I took the short straight boring route, it got really cloudy and windy, the highway was busy, and I ran into road construction. I had my ear plugs in so I wouldnt have to listen to the pitiful engine noise. But at least I was wearing my Italian leathers I had cinnamon buns to eat and a good memory of first 2026 Laverda ride.
Postscript....you cant make this shit up. Pharmacy gave me the wrong meds. So I get to repeat the trip in reverse order.

Drop those pegs & install some exec clip ons.........might help with the comfort factor.A tale of ironic contradictions and old age. These are great pictures; you have come across some very nice machinery.
Yes. Motoplast Project has them, too.Hey Lothar, great pictures. I'm happy to see you 'Out and about on your Laverda' and posting in the appropriate thread titled Laverda pictures. Beautiful bikes. I think Laverdas look great in black. Are both those bikes wearing GSXR wheels?
not sure what you mean, that is me and my son "out and about" on my Laverda'sThese are great pictures; you have come across some very nice machinery.
Thanks for sharing, and keep them coming, but the title of this thread is 'Out and about on your Laverda'; it's for you to share pictures or a narrative of your 'out-and-about' Laverda ride.
A more appropriate thread is under the General Discussion Headliner, 'Cars and bikes I have come across in my travels', where you can share pictures of various machines at rallies, meets, or spotted on the street, road, garage, or showroom. HTH

As I was criticized in the past for to long posts, I thought I let the pictures talk. That's wrong now, too?
Pics are from a shooting for a report about my bikes in a german magazine.
