Makes me wonder what happened to Johns Anniversary after the old fella died?

as above it has been sold to a new owner near Nottingham, it took me quite a while at his garage to sort out all the related parts that he had bought over the years, and to find the original ones that he had removed and swapped, I have told the new owner that i knew this bike very well but he has niot contacted me.

Jeez, I’m thinking Johns family appreciated your efforts though.

there were three daughters and two Vincent o/c members who took four seperate week long sessions to sort all his Vincent bikes and parts, there were many 8 yard skips and several scrap man visits (try 180 empty one gallon metla oil cans from the 50's to present) many bikes not of particular note and spares were consigned to an auction house, machine tools, 2x Lathes, 1x mill, power hacksaw etc etc were consigned to a very handy (local 3 miles) machine tool dealer.

I have a large quantity of ILOC club magazines going back to about 1990 for free distribytion to anyone who wants them, there are some binders as well, either collect from me (TN14 7LS), at a club meet or pay the post.

The old duffers bikes etc are up for auction with HJ Pugh this weekend.
And I’ll have the binders Clem.

Hey Pat, by anyone we know?
You probably don't know me, but if it's the late John Philipps bike, I'm currently undertaking a sympathetic restoration, as it had been upside down in a ditch - when John was knocked off it returning from a European trip! Fortunately not a huge amount of damage, and I've managed to save the mudguard, handlebars and the headlamp rim etc. John had sourced a replacement generator cover, and it came with indicators etc. I plan to return it pretty much to standard (apart from the (police) fairing, which did come with the bike). I don't want to touch the gold finish on the frame and wheels (unless anyone knows a perfect colour match/paint code). I'll post photos when it's done.

Hi Clem, sorry, I thought I had replied to you regarding John's 1200 Anni. Don't worry, it's in safe hands - I've been working on motorcycles for knocking on 60 years. When the Laverda came up I had to have a go, having always fancied a Mirage, this is the next best/better thing!

The BFN crew (don't ask) saw John go by on his way home from Breganze whilst we were filling up with fuel. The accident must have occurred shortly after that. We met him at the event and had a good chat, great bloke.

Yes, sadly, I didn't know John, but spoke to one of his daughters, Gill, during my purchase of the bike. He is fondly remembered - big into Vincent's as well. Apparently, he had stopped at the roadside, due to foggy conditions, and thought he would wait for a vehicle to go past so he could follow their tail lights. A couple drove past in a camper van and clipped his pannier, tipping him into the ditch, with the bike on top of him. They didn't realise what they had done, so didn't stop. Sometime later a local lady drove past and saw the tail light of the bike in the ditch, so stopped and helped John, who was in a bit of a state, but nothing broken. She got him a flight back to Heathrow, and the bike was returned via the RAC a couple of weeks later.
