So I've now done 650 miles on my restoration and riding it is just getting better all the time....changed over from SAE30 running in oil to Morris V twin race 20 50 at 500 miles and retorqued the head with helpful advice from Keith Nairn.

I had an annoying resonance on the bike which varied with engine load which turned out the left hand side of the lower fuel tank seam was touching the top left edge on the RS carbs. Sorted now by adding some more lift at the back. I've fitted a charge warning light made by Graham Blighe at Improving Classic Motorcycles. He's a great guy and did a special version for my bike running DMC 32 ignition and the FH027AB RR. Took the fairing off and fitted genuine Brembo master cylinder mirror holder clamps only £11.27 each! from Bike Torque racing.1000010707.jpg

Been over it checking bolts tightness, all good and heading out tomorrow on a 220 mile run which will take me through the Great Glen and onto the road to Skye finishing up at Glen Shiel and Shiel Bridge... Pat @pf1 said they're an acquired taste, after getting used to the vibes and full blooded character I'm getting to love it 🤠👍

Once they are in your blood you've had it though ha ha! Didn't you like the fairing? I think they look better without all the plastic parts myself.

The fairing dominated the riding experience, it also wobbled on bumpy road surfaces and the mirrors being mounted on the fibreglass fairing with no bracing below blurred above 40 mph and were useless for rear view at any speed. Much better without ! I'll box it up for when the time comes to sell !

After "I'm getting to love it " above, I'm surprised to see what looks a lot like your Mirage for sale on ebay.
Ebay Lav 1200
Did you decide it's not the right bike for your needs after putting all that time and money into it?

The bike was listed for sale on Ebay Friday morning. Then he posted here on Saturday that he loved the bike???

I guess his love affair with a Laverda did not last long.

You've got that wrong 1200TS, I posted this on the 25th and listed my Laverda on the 29th...in the meantime I had started on another Japanese project which will involve considerable expense of £7k and with ten other bikes, all Japanese it seemed right to try and sell.
I'm still thinking 🤔 about keeping it, I won't give it away and looking at other sellers in the past demand seems at the bottom.... I have the option of selling three other mundane Japanese bikes as an alternative....and that alternative seems a much better path. 🙂 Selling a 1994 Honda Revere, 1997 VFR750 and 1982 GL1000 will involve weeks of exposure to all the idiots wanting them for nothing but I'll get to keep the TS and that will be no bad thing, live with the vibes and RHS gear change and see all my hard work and help from you guys come good 😊 👍

The question for you, is will it stay right? I don't want a TS that has cost what it has in time and effort as well and will need constant outlay and time repairing....I would welcome your thoughts on that front

I don't give my classic bikes a thrashing Pat, I'm thinking with Keith's engine build it should be ok for years with restraint, regular oil changes and valve checks.

Thanks for your post, Pat...I've been talking to Ian at length and both of you have put my mind at rest. As Ian mentioned, the hardened exhaust valve seats will mean that clearances will rarely need adjustments and with Keith's build skills the engine will outlast me...I've ended the listing. My bike is mine again 😊👍
