Hi, My name is John and I am pleased to be accepted to the Laverda Forum. I have ridden and owned motorcycles since 1971. About a year ago I purchased a 1974 Laverda 1000 3C. I bought it from the widow of the previous owner and was told it ran fine. When I received the bike, it made a clunking noise coming from under the Left side cover. Upon pulling the Left sidecover, I believe the problem is that the primary chain connecting the transmission to the engine is too loose . I tried tightening the tensioner underneath the bottom of the case (which appears to be new) and the noise is less but still seems abnormally loud. I have no experience with Italian Motorcycles although I have a few. Can someone give me insight into this problem. Is it possible my chain is worn out? Can a replacement chain be purchased? I would be very grateful to anyone who would share their knowledge with me. Thank You John Windham 386-984-8603 or respond here
