Hey guys,

Did the 1976 750 SF3 come with points or electronic ignition, and did it come with the exhaust mid pipe? I Googled it but didn't find the answers.
Thanks

Non original calipers, discs and choke lever for a start. The front brake line routing looks hideous!
That's the obvious stuff without looking to deep into the photos.
Chrome gauge housing looks horrible as well. Polished turd?????

Highly suspect when "The Arkansas title lists the bike as a 1976 Laverda Jota." - I don't think many (if any) SF3 models were formally imported by a factory agent into USA so this was probably personally imported and hence I suggest that any potential buyer should look very carefully at the legitimacy of the import, tax, and title process before bidding.
It looks like it's the same seller as the 120 Jota reported here recently.

Lost in translation...

But it's in Italian, apparently for the Laverda Factory.
Or do you mean translation from engineering to the marketing yo-yos?

Years ago, there was an advertising campaign, here, for the VW Golf GTD.
It made a big thing about how it had fuel injection "unlike others in its class".

Don't think I've ever seen a carburetted diesel!

Did you watch the start-up and ride around video?

Jota designation is not necessarily suspect. I had to get an SF3 registered in NZ. When I got the paperwork it was an SF2. Turns out the model SF3 didn’t exist on the NZ database and they guessed. To get it changed I apparently needed a letter from the examiner to admit he made a mistake, amongst other things. Needless to say I didn’t bother.

It does show that the motor starts and apparently the clutch and first gear are working. A high-speed pass, WOT, in top gear would be much more confidence inspiring.
After TeddyG's experience with his BaT purchased SF2 that looked really good in the BaT sales pitch but has turned out to need major motor work, I think we all have to be cautious of the possibility that, while there may be some diamonds somewhere, there are a lot of "polished turds" as someone else here put it so eloquently!
That said, if the price doesn't escalate rapidly, seems likely to bought and parted out very quickly by one of the mid-west companies that have done so with Laverda twins in recent years - no worries there about history, performance, and paperwork.

Similarly, my 3cE was simply recorded as "Make: Laverda" until 2006, when the new MOT Certificate included "Model", for the first time.
Initially, it was a Laverda, Laverda but, in 2007, it became a "Jota".2005 MOT (crop).jpg2006 MOT (crop).jpg2007 MOT (crop).jpg

Who needs one of Richard’s Certificates when it’s confirmed by the MOT?

Yes, it's the same Arkansas seller on BAT for both Laverdas. I contacted him w/ a list of questions about the 750 SF3 which he hasn't answered. He's also not responding to other questions posted on BAT about both bikes and supposedly is a "dealer".

You all are correct- the seller has no history about both bikes from an estate sale, so buyer beware- which is unfortunate. It would be nice to see these bikes running properly.
