2into1 headers

My 750SF came to me with this 2into1. It's getting kind of sad looking. These come out to the right side of the bike (Slaters?). I'm assuming they are unobtainium at this point. I'm in Atlantic Canada and the nearest plater is two provinces over, and I'm not sure they'd do exhaust pipes anyway. Any thoughts or recommendations on saving them? I love the look, but am not convinced there is a performance benefit to them, BTW, so I'm not super married to them. Just not sure if I should just save up for a replacement 2-2 or try to stick with them. lav headers.jpg
 
Have a look for Ceramic coating, you can get it done internally and external. It's supost to improve performance by holding heat in the pipe as well. They do a shiny finish that looks pretty good for maybe 5 years before slowly turning a dull silver.Way less expensive that chrome
 
Ceracoating supposedly is good for heat dissipation but the finish is not impervious, so a rattle can of high heat paint might work OK. My SF2 came w a Malcolm Cox twin exhaust system that looks and sounds great and the chrome has been durable. Is the muffler an open megaphone like an SFC?
 
I spoke to my electroplater and also a ceramic coating expert about my exhaust. Both said they hated second hand exhausts because they dirtied the baths. Also the cost was high because the nastiest chemicals are the ones used to remove the old plating.
So I sandblasted and painted them.
Then I came to my senses and worked some overtime before ordering new from Malcom Cox 😁
 
Right hand side 2 into 1 like that can restrict cornering clearance even more than the original collector, so check this out if you are a spirited rider.
 
That looks like a recipe for strangling. Laverda 750 twins need to breathe which that thing won't allow.
It's not a Marving, that's bad enough.
It's silencers that chromers don't like because they fill up with soot. Pipes shouldn't be a problem and they can be cleaned out easily.

No it's an an aftermarket "Dunstall" reverse mega made for XS650

Doesn't seem to affect clearance, but it tucks up right under the stock footpeg and shift lever leaving no room to play with the position of those which affects shifting for me due to an old injury which has me thinking about ditching it entirely. It's the sort of thing I'd put off for a while, as it seems to otherwise work ok, even if it does affect mid-range per collective hearsay, but one doesn't want to push thing too far with long term availability of going with a Cox solution or similiar, so I may look into that sooner than later while I still can.

Imitates the so beloved systems of the H-D crowd a bit... good enough for cruising straight ahead for hours. :rolleyes:

Perhaps Lance also offered highway pegs and apehangers to supplement the pipes.
