3 Cross motorcycles Jota special

Does anyone have any knowledge of these please. I have come across this bike which I think I may be able to persuade the owner to sell at the right price. It is a B Reg 1984. 44K km looks all good and runs well. Seat is in the process of being replaced when photo taken. Hump and pad in shot. Was this based on the RGA or RGS? I think its an RGS, it has matching numbers and only 3 owners. Apparently they were a very limited number special commissioned by Three Legged Cross Motorcycles near Wimborne. (Went into administration last year) The special sports fairing and paint job with 3X logo looks complete. The only thing I can see needs attending to immediately is it has no mirrors on the fairing, though it looks perfectly useable.

Any advice or history info greatly appreciated.

Tank looks like RGA, however, that is not really important. All RGx Bikes share a lot of parts (but are different in details).

Have seen this (or similarly painted ones) several times on the net but never saw one live. If it floats your boat, go for it ;-)
 
Great colour scheme -they can variable engine spec , I seen other pics of this bike but can’t quite see if the tank filler is in the tank or the elephant trunk - check on the Laverdamania register under RGS - RGS go from 5 - 10 k dependent on condition and work - Malcolm Cox had a total renovation for 12k - bike looks as new
 
I believe there were two options with a half and full fairing. The one that had the full fairing I think had the 'full house' motor. I had the chance to ride one of these and it was very, very special.

I have one,an RGA Sprint though they were labelled RGA Jotas, but basically it is a standard RGA that didn"t sell well,so they had Sprint Manufacturing of Warminster (who still do Triumphs) do the double headlight fairings ,half and a full one.Your paint scheme is original which is quite a rare thing on its" own. Most are standard engines,mine was "Joterised "by Phil Todd.Hi comp pistons,34 mm carbs and 120 4c cams.
I d say a fair price would be around 8K

I m in Tiverton,hold a meet on the north Devon Coast at Blue Anchor Bay, Trevor who comes along has a black RGS and lives in Glastonbury too.

They are a lovely ride,been to Breganze twice on mine now,and look great, I know of another for sale near me from another member which is excellent.

Thanks for that. Yes Blue Anchor is less than an hour away, on a good day. Thanks for the picture of the 3X jota. Interesting that the paint scheme is slightly different and the one i'm looking at has more Blue on it and is missing the large 3X on the front of the fairing. Perhaps there has been a bit of a respray. Is your mate Trevor on this forum? The picture above are those the original rear shocks ?

Next meet is 2nd Sunday in June Driftwood Cafe 12 noon. Three Cross did a few different paint jobs,this was just another example,so yours is probably true.I ll see if I have some others . No shocks changed.Also should have a rubber pad over the top yoke.

A chap in Frome owns one of the blue / orange / white RGAs, as well as a few other Laverda triples.
Is this the same bike that you're considering buying?🤔😎

Buy it! That Sprint fairing is timeless! I know it's been discussed before but does anyone know where
/if the Sprint fairings are still available?
