At a fellow Laverda tagic?s abode today where he offered me a rear guard for my recently purchased 3C. Upon checking out the condition of the guard I noticed the Aus compliance plate. Now my fellow tragic doe?s not own 4048 so if any one has a 77 Laverda with engine no 4048 and would like their compliance plate my friend would be willing to return it.
Contact me via PM and we can arrange to return the plate to it?s rightful resting spot.

ADR compliance started 1st September 1976, these came from a batch of 20 3CL's imported by Stanco  and for sale in August 76, 10 red, 10 green, all black frames

Mine's red, first registered August 76 and no compliance plate, it is now registered as a 75 because it has no plate, either that or no rego, it's as if ADR started 1st January 1976 in NSW.

Yep that the 6 plug racer. Ex Doug ex Chris pritt aka woody. Just finished the new wiring loom yesterday about to hit the road again. Hatching a plan to get to Canberra as soon as we can to pick up cases for 750.  Chat soon mate

The issue date for the plate show?s 1/77 issued by Stanco. Just got off the phone to Marty and it seem?s like these Laverda bit?s keep travelling the universe until they eventually reunite with the rest of the bit?s to become one again.😂

Of those rivets holding the compliance plate on must be bagged up after drilling and presented to Marty with said plate  :LOL: :LOL:

Red, no didn?t realise that.
Lexie boy was a Sandgroper at one stage of his life, and I?m  pretty sure that?s when he picked up his Lav brand spankin in Green.
 
Ah Davey, those rivet?s are fairly rusty so don?t think much of them will survive 😂 But I will count what remain?s and duly record it for posterity 👍 Weather is cooling so am looking forward to the club hoodie.😀

Some years ago, I had good luck purchasing a complete body-kit for a 1000 Laverda (Tank, Seat-Unit, Fairing and fender). Parcels just arrived and I could not believe my luck as the parts were almost spotless and could be mounted right away.

3 days later, I got a call from the seller who asked me to return the goods to the original owner, as the bike they came off of was stolen off a race-track (they had checked the FIN before purchasing with the police, but it seems the policeman did a typo and therefore told them the bike is not registered as stolen). It belonged to a former Laverda Dealer Horstmann in Germany.

They refunded me the complete money and I sent the parcels back to Horstmann with a letter attached. I did not expect much, but an e-mail back or so saying thank you would have been nice. Nothing...  :'(

If someone had returned me my stolen parts free of charge (I paid the postage to Berlin), I would have thanked him quite much and would have refunded him the shipping costs at least.

All we need now is Batto to get those 81 cases back into his frame and another piece of the Laverda puzzle is complete!!

Well - the seller of the parts actually checked the FIN before purchasing the bike, so I don't think it was their mistake really. They btw. offered me to refund my posting costs, which I refused as they were really open and very sorry for that having happened.

Can't see a mistake really on Horstmann's side, too, as the bike was stolen out of his hands. The only thing I would have expected from Horstmann would at least be a phone call or e-mail/mail saying thank you for sending unoptainable (at that time) parts back to him to get his bike back together. If he had at least asked if he could pay my shipping costs, I think I would have been glad to refuse it. However, there was nothing coming back and that was a bit frustrating. But then - maybe I simply had the wrong expectation, who knows.
 
I have 4229 in Canberra which was a green 3CL.  Had been repainted black when I bought it in Melbourne in 1980.  Compliance plate says 10 1976 Stanco.  Do you think it could have been one for the 10 green 3CL's imported in the batch which went on sale in August 1976?
 
3768 is the frame number of the 6 plug racer, it was originally green, and was purchased by woody from eades in the 1980?s. It already had the engine 4048 fitted then, so whatever happened to the frame 4048 happened early on. No idea what happened to engine 3768.
 
I have 4052, but that was black and gold, had about 5000ks on it when it came to the family, so I?m assuming it was original, it?s a bit different now...

no idea either but we have #3769 and #3764 engines here in the workshop as spares, no frames for either
 
You won?t believe this Marty, but I also know where 3768?s engine reside?s😀. Also have seen a frame with 7510 on it. Why were these frame?s and engine?s separated in the first place, no idea but the?re out there looking to be reunited😀👍
