750 Drummer on eBay

Briefly owned a 750 GT. Hardly rode it due to needing to sell to help finance the purchase of my SFC back in 93.

It was a bit of a mess, just some water in the forks, no oil and a lovely double Lockheed front brake which would have been better had both hydraulic lines had a conduit down the middle. Only one did. Excellent brake however. Conti sound was great but I didn't appreciate the engine, finding it lifeless. It didn't vibrate.
I had the same impression trying an 851 some time later. Where's the engine?

I like anything with two wheels except the Wolsely car,
I have yet to ride a two wheeler that failed to make me smile.
I had a 900SS for a while, difficult to start because of the ergonomics of the kickstarter, but OK when it was running, riding it, I always felt like it was 14 feet long, didnt keep it long, mainly because it turned me a good few 000's in profit
 
I once owned an 860gts that everyone says was a heavy slug compared to the previous models. I loved riding it though, massive low down torque that would pull steep hills 2 up in top. It also had a speedo that was pretty accurate up to 70mph then you were doing anywhere between 70 and 110 as it bounced around. I bought it second hand from a dealer and it run lovely. I run it for 10 years and had to fix numerous little finicky problems, eventually I sold it as a non runner to a guy who travelled from Germany as I had to fund some work on my central heating and I had already bought a mirage. I made a decent profit on it too (sold on flea bay). The German guy (nice lad btw) told me it was an easy fix and that he would send me an email of it running the following week. That was approx 15 years ago, I still have not had the email.

He's still looking for big-end parts. :LOL:

I overhauled a 900SS engine a couple of years ago, the spares situation was pretty dismal, to say the least. All I needed was a big-end (of course!), a couple (a bucketfull really) of bearings, a fistfull of gaskets and a gear for the 'box. I made the guides and bushes I couldn't source, but overall, it was saddening. And then there were the prices... bloody hell!!

Turned out real sweet though. :giggle:

I quite like riding the bevel L-twins but find the 750s rather gutless. 860/900s are OK-ish from a power POV, but straight-line handling and engine characteristics are their strong points. Better than a Guzzi in any case.

I did like the Ducati but to be honest I preferred the mirage I replaced it with and also the lemans 1 I have now, both much better all round bikes.
 
A mate lent me his '76 900SS for several months while my Lav was stuck at a roadhouse at Yalata . Really enjoyed the SS.

My bike was waiting for a semi with space to load it and bring it home - thrown a cam chain halfway back to Perth from Melbourne with Lee when the half teeth that form the middle main shoulder came away ... cracks caused by a colleague who didn't know how to press the crank middle apart - took 2 years from damage day to catastrophe day. Lucky mein bruder was there to offer me a pillion seat or share the riding.
 
I rode Chris cutlers green frame from Nimitibel to Cooma, anyone got one laying around, I could give it another go this weekend. Chris rode my sf2, I think he was glad to get back on the duck.
