750 GT plastic side panel knobs

It wasn’t unusual for these to be replaced by the steel screws we all know so well, probably because they’re an item that’s fairly easily lost. However, my understanding is that the early GTs had these black side panel knobs as standard.

If there are generic replacements for other Italian bikes of the era, then I’ll have a look and see what I can find as a ‘back up spare’.

Early GTs and 650 did have those.

Repurposing stuff, I was so sick of seeing my elbows in the fairing-mounted mirrors on my 3c and spent ages looking for some 20mm thick rubber blocks to space them out. I tried heaps of places and found nothing suitable but I had a nagging thought I had seen something suitable. Guess who has screwed thousands of rubber door stops on shirting boards over the years. Had the same thing on the Simble Mazocci shocks on the Pantah. The 2 plastic caps on the remote reservoir on the shocks had disappeared and were unavailable and I was sick of them filling with water. I spent ages checking supermarket shelves for plastic bottle caps to replace them. Nothing fitted till I found a couple of brass welch plugs, some call them freeze plugs that fitted perfectly. If you cannot find it repurpose something else.

Most nearly all medical equipment in use today is metric definitely if it was manufactured in the last 20 years. Most US built cars are now Metric definitely if it is of Japanese or European origin. The big 3 auto manufacturers Ford, GM Chrysler are converting to Metric fasteners which at present means some vehicle models are all metric and some are a mix of metric and SAE.
