Apparently PITS Told to close

Just read on another site the cops turned up at The Pie in The Sky on The Old Rd late Sunday arvo and closed it down. Went around to all there threatening $1000 fines for breaching the Distancing Rules. I have no idea how many were there at the time or how close they were to each other. Technically if you are correctly separated and getting a takeaway Pie you were ok. Maybe not now. Seems it's ok if you're following the rules at my local cafe precinct but not at bike stops. Maybe the cops love their agenda and the extra powers now available. Anyway, take care if you are self-isolating on a bike.

If I were you, I wouldn't leave home under any circumstances other than food or if you work in vital industry or services.
How does social distancing, totally stupid expression, work in a bar with a virus that survives several days on surfaces?

If you drink whiskey or similar high alcoholic drinks, you are fairly safe as the virus gets destroyed by alcohol... some say...

honestly: there is no way to stay safe other than to stay away. Our pups, restaurants etc. are completely closed. I totally feel for the owners and waitresses/waiters as they lose a lot of income the longer this takes. Just like many others. Currently, my company pays full and I am working full (from home), but I am not sure this will continue like this.

I cross my fingers, people all over the world understand how dangerous this can be and behave accordingly. I have my doubts though, as in all countries, the same development seems to take place in different timings everywhere and we lose important time in fighting against the virus spreading.

Better stay safe than sorry...

This is a Pie shop, not a bar. They sell coffee and Pies. Usually, they get eaten at the place but they do take away as well, they have tables and chairs set up around the place and on a good Sunday, there could be 2 or 300 bikes there as it services the of the best bike roads in Sydney. Myself, I haven't been anywhere for the last 3 weeks other than food shopping and medical stuff but there are quite a few who have been on solo rides observing the distancing rules. These rules were increased last night to allow only one on one meetings outside your immediate family group and even that frowns upon. It's been doable but if this needs to continue for the talked about 6 months at least there is going to be lots and lots of full-blown stir-crazy people out there. Go nuts or kill a large percentage of the population.

In Cheshire UK you are only allowed into a store on your own, and Manchester there telling the homeless not to congregate and observe the 2m rule and for so some reason the thick fucks are telling the homeless to go HOME.
Mad world we live in but not heard any political party world wide ask the Chinese to foot the bill and tidy there shit up. Whoops sorry Donald trump did and got slaged off for saying it.

I did but my post was removed for being racist.

Yes, I agree, I wasn't there so I don't know what the cops saw. I hope they were waiting for Pies using proper distancing.

I saw your post Pat, was going to reply but it was removed before I could.
I hope China does not get yet another free pass for this one.
We do have to be mindful to criticise only the CCP and not
Chinese people in general, but FFS we havnt heard a peep out of the CCP while the world just turns to shit.
Everyone is afraid to say anything for being labeled a racist, a fact that is not lost on the CCP.
The other side is that pointing the finger now wont help the immediate situation,
Not saying anything however is exactly what the world has been doing for the past 40 odd years and that hasnt helped either.

This guy can be quite informative, having lived in china and married to a Chinese.

I' afraid you need to have lived in the PRC for some time to understand how the people think, and how the government thinks and how they control people.
As I lived for for nearly all of the 90's and some of the early noughties I believe I have an idea based on my experiences, including how they control foreigners - the good and the bad.

Don't believe any information their government issues is the rule I go on.  Don't believe their press, none of it is free, let alone controlled by Rupert Murdock.

As TC observed, Tibet has been and is continuing to be decimated and now the Yuigur people are also binge decimated while the world watches, not interested in case we loose out on our landfill.
Harsh observation - you bet, but from where I sit its true.

Sorry Vince, but there are some very stupid people here in Sydney.
We see most people doing the right thing, self isolating, staying home and only doing essential trips such as food shopping.  We are self isolated and have been for 1.5 weeks.
I'm not paranoid, but believe we all need to do our part.
Then we see 8  or 9 20 something year old's pissed a newts sitting outside our place last might waiting for a taxi.  None had called one of course, they weren't capable of it.
I called the police and insisted that these cretins take all of the garbage with them.  Police not too interested, but I forced the point by asking that they provide the local council with the peoples names and addresses so they could be charged with littering, with what could be COVID19 contaminated rubbish - bottles, cans, food wrappers.  Total bullshit.
I also suggested that the press may be interested.  Ah what a difference.

I was living in HK for 5 years up to 97 and was a frequent visiter to China for business and for weekend fun.
In a hotel in Gaungzhou after a BIG night out and about 5am was awakened buy hotel sucurity cutting the chain on my door with bolt cutters to find me stark nacked half passed out on the bed. They realized they got the wrong room and did the same to my mates room next door to find he had a local girl with him. They were taken to an office where they were interogated for hours about why they were sleeping together and how they'd met etc. Finally my mate was let go but they wouldn't let her go as much as my mate protested.
Never found out what happen to her. He never got the chance to pay her either!!

Well - this sounds a bit weird when you look back and see that the "Spanish flue" actually originated most probably in - USA... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu#Hypotheses_about_the_source

It killed - depending on which source you believe in - 25 - 100 Million people out of 500 Million infected. Out of a worldwide population of 1,8 Billion at that time... This would correspond with todays worldwide population and the same mortality rate with 125.000.000 - 500.000.000 deaths. Did USA pay for that? How could one country ever pay for the loss of people and economic losses worldwide? just impossible and I also think irrelevant to discuss therefore.

We should focus though on isolating the virus to get infection rates down and help people to survive. Trump on the other side focusses on his re-election and as he knows he needs a strong economy for that; he prefers to accept thousands of US americans getting killed by the flue rather than accepting that his personal re-election is under danger due to a weak economy. Not sure I like that course...

The Americans paid their dues in young lives in WW2 Lothar and they paid financially to get Europe back on its feet afterwards and give you the country you live in. I think they did ok.

That 'article' is so vague that depending on who you wish to believe it could have started in the UK camp in Etaples, the US or even China.

I?ll never forget having a snipers rifle being aimed at me, from an overpass, outside a hotel in PRC in Taiwan. I was staying at the same hotel as the .... President??

A armed undercover cop obviously told the sniper by radio that I wasn?t a threat..... could well have been my last cigarette.

My mate in NZ has a Chinese wife, kicked out after she was identified as one of the protesters at Shianamen Square. She can?t ever go back. He is banned to go there for work too.

The doco I saw said it apparently started in Army Camps in the USA and got spread with troops coming home world wide. I guess they documented the date it first was seen. It also said it waxed and wained over time by a significate amount, seems to be reducing but coming back strong a year later. We must remember they had zero ideas what it was and even less ability to medically intervene back then. We now know heaps more but even now it's back to old school survival methods.

Well - do you think that if an american President visits a town, there are no snipers on the roof, targeting people on the way? Be asured - that is the case... I was in Austin this year when Mr. T. visited Austin for a farmers congress. Snipers on a lot of buildings and the immigration endet for a young lady of our partners team in jail over night and with a flight back to germany the next day. Weird.

I really do not want to compare one catastrophy with another, but it was less than 500.000 soldiers against 50 - 100.000.000 dying by the spanish flue. If politics in US will continue like this, you will lose more people to the Corona Virus than during WW2 and 1 or even all wars america participated together. I hope people and government will prevent that. Typically, americans are really good in solving an identified issue. I cross my fingers and hope it works out OK for every nation and we can get controle over the infection rates...

Righto, so let me get this straight.. you are having a whinge about a pie shop closing.. while the rest of us are desperately trying to avoid a very nasty virus, that will continue to spread while you for some reason decide you just can't avoid a ride up a heavily policed road that for many years has been boring as fuck..
Why the f**k can't you get it in your head that a stay at home process for a few weeks is worth the rest of our lives..??!!
Get over yourselves F**ktards.. you almost deserve the Covid.. some less for the rest of us to live with..

We will get past this, but not with this crap..
Stay at home, do some maintenance, have a beer.. F**k off our roads tossers.

I can sense you are just a little pee'd off Ian.

Unfortunately people do not understand for some strange reason.  Even our collective governments here in AUS have struggled, although I must say the Premier of Victoria has a nice direct manner which I admire.  That he also talks common sense helps mightily.  That and not being frightened to take action.  I'm thinking of asking him to stand in NSW next election  :D

One would think at a time like this, that for once people could identify that the common good is far more important than the individuals good.
There will be no community or it will be greatly diminished without people behaving responsibly.

I actually am enjoying isolation !
My wife no longer gets up at 4.15am, returns for lunch and then again around 6.30pm, no longer deals with a group of idiots who think they no better than her, and I see her seven days a week, not one.  Hell, we even manage to talk and discuss what is happening in the world.  Oh yes, and she is now unemployed as Rowing Australia shutdown all elite and junior rowing nation wide.  Only the Olympic squads continue to train.
I'm happy.  I AM ALIVE.
