And talking about Zundapps ....... Here`s a few pics of my Rickman R125SD , Zundapp powered ....... Was actually after a Dalesman Scout , but Westbury Motorcycles in Bristol had these so ........ !8 bhp from these , there was a Moto-X version which made 23 bhp ...... They were used , alongside Triumph TR5T`s by the British Trophy team when the ISDT was held in the `States , in 1973 I think ........ Quite a few were sold over there on the back of that , via BSA / Triumph dealerships ......

Pics show catalogue shot ; mine on a track near Pucklechurch ; halfway up the old road from Tadwick to Langridge near Lansdown near Bath ; and on the Fosse Way near Grittleton Wiltshire , after riding over a fallen tree , victim of the 1974 gales .......View attachment 81214View attachment 81215View attachment 81216View attachment 81217
I think the ISDT team chose Zundapp motors as the Germans were doing well with them- except the motors that were supplied to Rickman didn’t have the same barrels/ porting. I saw one in Bob Phillips place in Hayes, 1986 £100..went back and it had gone🙄 Seen then with Bultaco motors as well.

I kept mine for about 4 years , then sold it to a father and son who came up from Kent to pick it up ......

It went well on the road , would register 85 mph on the clock , had to carry a good supply of two - stroke , plus two or three spark plugs ( Champion L78`s I think they were ) ........ you could bet on having to change those at least a couple of times every time you went out .

Betor forks , and an oil reservoir in the swing arm to keep the chain lubricated .

I wouldn`t mind one now ...... I was quite young when I had mine ...... Couldn`t quite get my head around the flywheel generator with slots in the rotor so you could poke the feeler gauge through to adjust the points / timing ..... Makes me wonder if there would be an electronic upgrade available now , or what system the Laverdas used .....

The Laverdas LZ125 had a Bosch BTZ electronic ignition.

Slaters celebrate results in the opening round of the 1978 Avon Championship ......

Plus a congratulatory message from Avon Tyres ....... seems everyone`s kissed and made up after all the fuss the previous year about racing on road tyres ......... which led to Slaters withdrawing and Sports Motorcycles Moto Guzzi Le Mans taking the title .......

Renzo Pasolini , 250 Aermacchi ; Kim Newcombe , 500 Konig ........ both 1973 ......

Pasolini caption said Assen , but picture shows Sachs Kurve ( take my word for it ) , which would make it Hockenheim , I believe........ ( Mis-information ; Fake News ; Never believe what you read ; A picture is worth a thousand words ; blah blah blah ....... ) ......
