....... and finally , finally ( for now ) ...... These are not the Ray Knight pics I was thinking of , but still nice ..........

.... The fuel tank in both pictures appears to be the extended range hump back one , which resided on Richard Slaters shop counter for many years ...... wonder where it is now ... ? .........

Would that be a 3C, or did the earliest 3CE come with rear drum brake?

Pictured would be a 3C ....... or as it`s a Slater bike , a 3C more than likely given the " E " treatment .... a 3CE .......

I believe all 3C`s , and 3CE`s , would be drum rear brakes ......... the triple `s disc rear brakes only arrived when attached to the FLAM alloy wheels , and the 3CL
..... L for Lega , or alloy ( wheels ... ) ......

When Slaters first went racing , ( as shown here with Ray Knight on board ) , with the triple in 1975/6 , it would have been with the 3C / 3CE ..... this was before the arrival of the 3CL during 1976 , which when given the ` E ` treatment , became known as the Jota .......

Somebody said they thought they spotted it in the motor museum in Jurby, but not had a chance to check if that’s true.

...... That`s interesting ......... I wouldn`t have minded having something similar made for the Mirage , to extend it`s range beyond the 85 -95 miles I normally got from a tankfull , before switching to reserve .......

I remember an article in a bike mag about a bloke who collected petrol tanks ........ He had 30 or 40 I think , all from different makes of bike ...... there was a picture of them all in his front garden ....... Not sure if he even rode , or owned a complete bike ...... he just had a thing about tanks ........ 😕 .......

..... Thought I`d stick this on here rather than Cool Videos seeing it features the V6 ..... looks like there was a factory 1200 entered as well ...... never knew that ......

We all know the V6 stopped after 8 hours .... did the 1200 ( or 1115 as described here ) keep going ? ......

None of the 4 Laverda’s finished the race. The 1200 broke 3 primary chains, always at the same spot on the track. They abandoned the race after 18 hours fearing this probably would happen a 4th time..
