I can't be 100% sure Quentin, but I think it's a camshaft bearing ;)

Is that a bit of cooked aluminium squishing out around the end of the camshaft?
Not enough oil perhaps? Maybe a bit of shit in an oil gallery.

@ Cosi - A busted vertebra isn't good. You don't wanna end up in a wheelchair like Wayne Rainey. All the best for a full and quick recovery.

We had a race meeting at Symmons Plains in Tassie on Sunday. One of my mates did the same thing. Crashed and got carted off to the Launceston General Hospital with suspected spinal injuries (thankfully his spine is OK - but he has 4 busted ribs in his back). He was the second rider to leave the track in an ambulance that day. Racing was suspended each time until a replacement ambulance could be brought to the track, so they didn't get through the whole race program.

What are we looking at, Ian?
Cam shaft alloy bush Q.. Cam may be right, might be an oil feed issue.. bush has bound up on the cam and spun out of the retaining lug on the block.. you can see the cut out for it just to the right of the lug.. lucky to only jam the motor at low revs.. (kinda, I was downshifting into T6 when the rear wheel locked..) managed to grab the clutch and avoid a spill..

That's a nasty surprise, Ian, I vaguely remember a Monty mod in Classic Mechanix mag tears ago, either converting it from bushes to roller bearings or rollers to bushes. Don't remember the details. The usual fix for compressed Vertebra fractures is time and rest, not good my brother did 3 or 4 being slammed on his arse in a really strong shore brake while surfing. We put an old door under his mattress so he had a firm bed, he was in lots of pain for quite a few weeks. Thank those Back Protectors.

have to thank Brett and Paul for their help on the weekend, Saturday morning I woke up with a really sore back and even worse on Sunday though I think Sunday was more a Kidney issue probably related to the amount of "refreshments" we consumed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night
Which meant I had real issues with movement so crew duties fell on to both of them

Due to the changing weather conditions Brett and Paul must have done at least a dozen wheel changes over the weekend going from dry to wet Pirelli tyres and back to dry again, we nearly ran out of safety wire
So many thanks again to both of you, could not have achieved our 4 wins without either of you

Photo of a rear wet Pirelli race tyre, work really well if track is actually really wet but an issue with a drying track

On the subject of kidneys ... I ruptured a kidney in a bike crash many years ago. I spent 10 painful days in hospital pissing blood. The blood to piss ratio gradually reduced each day as the kidney healed (the other side of that coin was that I had piss circulating in my bloodstream). When the blood content in my urine had dropped down to almost nothing, they let me go home.
On my discharge, I asked the doc how long before I could drink beer again. He said "Go for it, it'll flush any residual blood out of your kidney. But don't get so pissed that you fall over because your kidney hasn't fully healed and you could tear it open again".
