BEARS Australia 2026

Race 2, 1st outright, dropped lap time to 1 min, 9.7 secs

Dicing with a bloody fast Harley, been up against same bike at a couple of tracks now. Hasn't beaten us yet but seems he has extracted more power from it over the Xmas break

Love the live timing - yep, looks like a cracker of a race with that hog right on Matt's heels! Great work Red & Co.

Was that the Harley that the video footage came from last year?

Mule not been out yet, we lost 10 races yesterday due to a treacherous monsoonal trough dumping 60mm of rain on the track in the afternoon

This morning track still wet so Veloce went out on wets in F1 masquerading as a BMW S1000RR
She came home in 8th, not bad against a field of 1198 and V4 Ducati's

Mule home 1st in 4th race, going home with 100 points
No engine or any other damage, have to be happy with that

Mac Park weekend after next, if I can find enough diesel to get me there, roughly 2,000 klms each way

An excellent weekend's work. Looks like Balestro put in a quick lap, but couldn't sustain the pace and came in 3rd. Only two weeks between races - hard work! Hope the fuel situation goes OK.
Marc Balestro has run in F4 before on Pete Revell's period Triumph, never been an issue for us before
Now he is riding Brownies Ducati 900 something in F4, that is a far better bike then the Triumph will ever be
His first time on the 900 this meeting, took him a few races to work it out but in Race 4 he was catching us

Finally, we have some serious competition and Marc is a great guy, has an A Grade rider rating so is a very fast rider, he also runs a V4 Ducati in F1 so duels with Matt in both classes
The 2020 Triumph Thruxton that has beaten us every 2nd year in the past for the National Championship only wins because we either lose rounds with blown engines or Matt has a health issue as in 2025, it has never beaten us across the line unless we have an engine issue
Especially now with the Slipper clutches as we have not damaged an engine since we installed them

Will be an interesting year, may need to extract more power from the Mule or work out how to lose a bunch of weight
Looking forward to an interesting year

Yea Tom, that run into T1 is awesome.. hang to the left at the end of the straight, then crank it right and get on the gas all the way up to the left into the top loop.. great racetrack and fun to ride. Thanks to plenty of track talk with Matt we managed to find 6 seconds over the weekend. Not the fastest by any means, but still a good PB result for young Monty..
Mind you, we chased him all weekend with firstly a fueling issue, and then the starter motor relay failed..

Got it sorted with the invaluable help of the Redax crew.. Thanks to Tom the Wrecker for the relay, hand delivered early Sunday at the Motel, and Brett for sorting said relay. Red of course, just quietly suggesting solutions in his usual well experienced way..(y)
After that we really just got on with it, but a late Sunday start button fail gave me the clue it was time to pack up and get ready for the long drive home.

My special thanks to my travelling and pit support mate Mark Muir who loves to come along.. "the things you do for your mates.." and make the journey an amusing trail of stories of the road and laughs over some fine meals. I could not do it without support from him and all the crew.

Ya Gotta Love Ya Laverda Racing..
Ciao

Round 1 complete. 100 points and the trophy to The Mule.

Today, The Mule gets loaded back into Matt's van, where it was 4 days ago, for the long haul south over 3 state borders.
Round 2 at Mac Park in Mount Gambier SA for Easter.

All the best to Matt and Red and the Redax Laverda support team.
Let's hope you can all find enough fuel to get there and back home again. 🙏
