BEARS Australia 2026

Between Matt's BMW and the two Laverda's we have 14 spare tyres on board the race van, combination of wets and slicks, all new for one meeting which works out at around $5,000 in tyres though we will not use them all
Laverda's go through a set of slicks every meeting alone as well as a set of slicks on Matt's BMW, wets can last a bit longer depending on if the track is actually wet or only just wet
If only just wet we can destroy a set of wets in one race

Add in 40 litres of race fuel for the Laverda's at $14.30/ltr for another $572 plus whatever 98 we buy for the BMW, plus 4,400 klms of Diesel for the race van plus flights for Matt and Tina and accommodation at the meeting plus mine for 2 nights extra both ways as I drive the race van to every meeting and this track is 2,200 klms each way

Add in Brett coming to every race meeting to support us on one of his many Laverda's and we never know which one he will turn up on
Bless him, what a passion

This racing caper in Aussie is fucking expensive, I must be mad as fuck to continue to chase my passion but so love hearing my 180 degree crank race bikes being thrashed at full song, so awesome and we are still making them faster against our Lap records

I will never race a 120 engine, they are to me not a true Laverda, they lost their soul when the factory changed over

All power to you, Red. I sure as hell appreciate the time and (lots of!) moula you sink into your passion. Gotta say, since you went the slipper clutch and 180 rear you haven't looked back. Only spanner in the works was Matt's ticker - fantastic to see him back to his best - but the bikes have been super consistent. All the best for Monte Gambia.

Hi Red, I hear your expensive pain, and I only have round trips of 2,000 miles for race meetings . Yeah and a great team of 7 other people who without them I couldn't go endurance racing. Keeps you young and smiling. Thanks

How can a Harley even come close? What do they rev to? 6? Kudos times X to Red for sinking heart and soul (and considerable resources) to continue the legacy. Hat off to you Red!

Two races done
1st race, started from 4th, got held up for 3 laps, set fastest lap of the race, came home 3rd

2nd race, started 3rd, in 1st on 2nd lap, broke our own lap record that the Mule set in 2022, came home in 1st

Veloce doing really well considering we mainly use her for wet races

Alan Cathcart once wrote an article about this Harley with the title „ Lucifers Hammer“ 😂

Two races on Sunday for two more wins but close finishes both times with Ben on his Harley right on our rear wheel 🛞

Won the meeting in BEARs F4 class
Extended our lead in the National Championship
Next meeting Morgan Park middle of May

Too right Mark, time outta the seat and posing for photos…. Black and White none the less!
All that time up the pointy end & the paparazzi finally getting on board 🤩

He’s one cool cat 😎

Bravo Red/GUV/Brett & team ! 🙌
Keep chalk’n em up mate.
Did The GUV break into a sweat with that Hog on his tail….? 🤣
Hooksey.
That Harley is a serious piece of kit and is based on a Sportser with a lot of engine mods
Ben's brother Sam rides a Buell in the same race and generally comes in 3rd

Both of them are great guys and very safe clean riders though Ben gets that Harley seriously crossed up into corners
Great to watch

Sounds like a great ding dong Red, as you say great racing to watch trackside!
Harley must be well prepped to snap at the heals of Veloce…….😉

Safe trip home mate, with a smile on the dial 😎

Indeed serious kit. I went to flat track event in Sacramento back in the 90's. Couldn't believe Jay Springsteen was in there. Felt like I knew him from the movie On Any Sunday I had seen in the 70's.
