Bike Auction question

I was watching the auction at the Bath & West show the other day and a we saw a Confederate Harley thing go for £30,000 . Chap behind me said it was £30k hammer price plus 12% buyers premium then 20% VAT on the total. When I looked up the Auctioneers site it said hammer price plus 15% inc VAT.( 16% if it’s online bid)
So how much did Harley boy actually fork out? Anyone bought one at auction?

VAT is added to any cost added by the auction house. They will be VAT registered and as such have to charge vat on any "sales" they make. This will be 20% added to any buyers and sellers premium.

if the sale item being disposed of by a seller who has reclaimed the VAT on it (eg a van or a crane) then there is the VAT on the sale price to be paid, plus the VAT on the auctioneers (variable) commision. In the case of a company owned bike, (eg RAC) I think this would apply. When you buy a used bike from a dealers shop, VAT is charged on the profit element of that sale, you (usually) dont know how much that is.

How common worldwide is the term Smegma, is it a technical medical term or slang, google time again.
Pronunciation is very important in this respect. Sounding more like “schmegma “ than the ‘smeg’, and yes, technical medical term especially if your doctor is explaining it to you. Not that I’ve ever had that term described.
I’ve heard it used for a really bad food pairing!

First you need to qualify if the listener/questioner understands the term foreskin..if not you're wasting breath. Of course
there is also the associated term of a religious ceremony the bris. I knew the term smegma in the 60's as my mom was a
physician AND we lived in an affluent area of Los Angeles,Encino where a bris was common. Oh,how these forums enlighten !
But,as the Pythons would say..."and now for something completely different "..

Foreskins are put to use here. Once removed, they are hung on a hook and weighted with a string and a brick, once they reach 6 foot the are placed in a blue uniform and call a cop,
