You use the winch to hoist the bike up onto the ramp? In the half of my life spent in mc workshops I never had a jack up ramp, always a fixed ramp and a long plank, often with a helper to steady things if the bike was heavy. Not so young and strong any more. Nice carpentry work there.

Cheers, in truth the hoist is too low (not enough ceiling height), however it comes in useful for pulling the bike up to put it on the centre stand once the bike is on the bench.
Still run the bike up the ramp myself - need to build a step platform to replace the beer crates I use at the moment though.
Truth told I'm also getting too old for working from the floor 😆.
 
I have the same cheap winch. Must have cost €100. 400 kg capacity. I use it for lifting bikes and parts unto the mezzanine. The motor is solidly fixed to the rafters 6 metres up.

I used the same Chinese winch with rollers and hung it from an alloy I-beam I bought from a scrap metal recycling center. I used it to build my Lotus replica. It will (usafely) lift an amazing amount! It made short work of the A-series engine plus the Datsun gearbox and I used it to lift the completed car on and off the jackstands: first the front and then the rear.

Paint is fine on mine despite petrol and acetone spills.
Maybe the Chinese treat American customers differently?

My lift of choice will be of absolutely no help to you Dexter. 🤪 I bought a Handy Lift, made in the USA. I got an electrically powered one as I didn't have a large air compressor. Cost about $800 15 years ago. It replaced a wooden Teeter-Totter death trap.
