Can anyone recommend a brand/type of grease to use on caliper pistons and seals? I got some small sachets of Bendix stuff from Supacheapo but it seems to be predominantly for external application - pins and back of pads kinda stuff. I haver some Brembo red grease but it's very thick. Have googled Repco and others but nothing seems to specify 'internal' or brake fluid compatible. I would assume anything with silicone in it is not compatible with Dot 4 brake fluid. Or can I simply use brake fluid as the assembly lube?
Decided I have to rebuild the R1 calipers on the Q, as they came from a wreck via the US and could be 15 years old. They were binding on the rotors after lever release. Absurd to leave something like that off the attention list on a project of the magnitude of this!! Internally they are spotless, not a trace of black 'silt' and the seals are very elastic, so hoping new seals and a complete refurb will sort it.
