I have purchased a Laverda RGS 1000. The previous owner removed what looks like a cam chain guide from thebottom of the motor. This is held on by 2 nuts. It is alloy with a curved guide which fits under crank near camchain. The curved guide is offset with punch mark. Could someone please tell me which way it fits ?
Thanks

Well done for noticing 👍
Is there a matching punch mark on the sump? Maybe the previous owner marked it.

To quote an illustrious Forum member:

"The narrow, flush side, goes towards the alternator.

Look carefully and you may find a centre punch mark on the top side of the pedestal semicircle on that side.

If you put it in the other way round, the wider offset shoulder will rub on the crank."

There is a factory tool to make it easier…..the spring makes a small diff to clutch rattle at idle.
When you crack the shits and leave the springs out…… it will still work fine 😉
Each to there own!
Thanks for that. As the tool would be rare as rocking horse!!!! I will have a go without them.
