A12's have far less lift than A11's. God knows what they do to an engine. I have a set somewhere from a Euro 1200TS, I was surprised at the difference in height.You can quite easily spot the difference by eye if you're looking at an A11 and 4C side by side. The A11 (and presumably A12) are very 'pointy', while a 4C is more 'fat' around the lobe area. Obvious really, because the valve is being held open longer at high lift. There is a picture in the green book that shows it perfectly.
Agree that you don't hear a difference at idle, but riding it's easy to spot. Even poorly set up 4C's are noticeably different to A11's. There is always an added urgency in the top end, badly set up that is even more pronounced. A11's are just flat above five or six grand.
