Canadian Laverda owners in Ontario, who are you using for Insurance?

I started insured back in 72 for a $150/yr rider premium , including my Snow Machine, on my Auto-Insurance package but shortly after had to ride "Outlaw" until 2020 when they put cameras at every intersection by then I was getting too old and developed eye sight issues - Then I sold her - Have to say, I lived the BEST of Times as a Breganzie rider in Northern Ontario Canada - Nothing could beat my 70 750 SF0 through the winding hills of the Cambrian Shield and that includes the Suzuki 1100 GWSX. Mind you my Breganzie could never do 140mph but down any straight to any mine site in Northern Ontario that Suzuki did not stand a hope in hell - I owned a 1100 GWSX - King of the City Freeways and the bike that destroyed the Breganzie 3cly ;o(

Can you believe my 1st job after 2 years of University, looking for a BSC was hiring onto an Insurance Co. - Sun Alliance of London as an Underwriter - My Slide Rule was faster then their adding machines - ROLF !

As an Underwriter for Sun Alliance, we wrote for Royal, Dominican, Farmers and sadly for Jafco for an insurmountable premium for un-insurables.
A Risk could be split as an agreed percentage between co-operative companies. Let say for and All Perils Commercial coverage for a Trucking Co. or a Property and Liability coverage for a City.. The Big money makers for smaller Private Agents using our services where basically Home Owners, Auto and Life Insurance Policies = Man that was a long time ago in my life. Owned my 70 Laverda 750 SF0, a 72 Dodge Challenger Rally 340 Mag, wore a suit and had a pretty Girl Friend. I was 24 in 72. Basically I wrote my own Insurance Policy ;o)

After 2 years of that low paying shit I hired onto Chromalloy, a US based photo company and moved to the west coast where I could Ski the Rockies after which I moved back to Northern Ontario and hired onto the CNR as a Rail Traffic Controller and Married - The rest is history and now I' m here ;o)

Ian:
I have no idea on how your going to solve your Ontario Insurance Issue to Insure your Breganzie ;o(

Perhaps Hagarty ? - And probably will not be cheap with restrictions.

However; I did know a girl named Penny Short and every where she went she was always a penny short ;o)

Good Luck !

I think my next step is to try and contact Steve Troupe to see who he uses. I think he's in the Hamilton/Burlington area and has several Laverda's that include a RGS.

Does anyone here happen to know Steve or have his contact info? I avoid most of social media like the plague and would prefer not to have to join Instagram lol.

It just shouldn't be this difficult to insure a motorcycle ffs.

Cheers

Clinton Smout, Cdn motorcycle journalist, is a friend of his. He would be easier to get in contact with.
Heck, maybe he’s got the inside info on Ontario bike insurance for rare bikes???

Thank you Steve, I will try and get in contact with Clinton.

You'd think that a Laverda was some sort of evil and dangerous "long gun" the way insurance company's have banned them...... of course I know that's untrue and an exaggeration because only criminals have guns in Canada and I don't see any of them riding away on Laverda's..... they just steal Toyota's.

Cheers

Car theft in Ontario!!! Brampton!! Legendary!!! Golly, wonder why??
Sorry, I went ‘there’.

I have a three pedal car which is one of the better theft deterrent for cars these days.
Sometimes I leave my 2001 Jeep Manual 5 Spd 4L Sport idling while I run into the local Grocery to pickup Milk, Bread, Eggs, Rolaids and a Candy Bar because my 5 year old battery is low and needs charging - My Breganzie suffered the same symptoms; however. I always a Bar Maid to give me push in the morning to get off to work back then ;o)
