Cars and bikes I’ve come across in my travels

Finally off my bucket list, got to drive the Morgan! I have known this car all my life as it belongs to a family friend who lived next door to me when I was a kid- 55 odd years later Dave throws me the keys when we are out to a pub. He has owned it since ‘68 ( year I was born) but it’s a ‘53. When I was a teenager he asked if I knew someone who could rebuild the engine- my mate worked for Tony Ponds mechanic, Dick Prior, so we whipped out the engine & he rebuilt it- 40 years later, same engine, still running well. My Dad drove it in the ‘70’s and didn’t like it, used to refer to it as the Hulk. I quite liked it but it would be scary to drive fast. Good day for me.

I came across a murder of Morgans at a castle in the Brecon Beacons several years ago. So cool, and what fun on those roads they must have been. Glad you got to scratch a bucket list itch.

Whats next....fender skirts and racoon tails on whip aerials ! Gee,I thought all that 50's and 60's
crap like ape hangers has pretty much died off with the originators. I'm guessing that the "influencers"
stumbled onto a 50's hot rod/custom car mag and are now claiming they have invented a new fad. You
kids stick to your avocado toast...and using a telephone to talk person to person.

We had an identical Z1R for sale when I was an apprentice, I could afford to buy it but insurance was £600 a year TPFT….with hindsight that probably saved my life.

At the end of their week long rally the Veterans (pre 1919) rode out to the Royal Hotel, Harrisville.
Was great watching them all ride in and park up. Lots of activity with hand and foot levers.

This 1911 LMC had my interest. Lloyd Motor Company.

That was my second car, it was the worst rustbucket I ever had. But of course you can lift the body off the platform Beetle-style. They are a bitch to restore anyway. It had the type 3 engines, first 1500 and then 1600cc

most of the Karman Ghias were sweped away in a bin, so you don‘ t see them very often- but on yours in the foto Hamish I don‘t like the wheels, they are not state of the art
