Club Laverda NSW brekky ride to the Wombat Cafe, Wisemans Ferry Rd, Gunderman.

This sunday 11th April.

Need numbers so we can let the kitchen know we are coming.
Meet 7.45 for 8.00 am departure at 7/11 servo Berowra. Travelling via Berowra Waters ferry and Wisemans Ferry.

Last trip here was a washout. Trying again

Bit of a good roll up this morning good to see Mark join us on his 120 Jota love the smoked ones.. Marty on his adventure bike seems the rattle wasn’t the cams after all but the blade... and following him down to the ferry can assure you that his brake light works ! never seen it used as much
we had a bit of a delayed start as Tom manage to loose an ear plug .. I offered him a well used Aussie made set that I found in my jacket pocket but he declined for some reason.... anyway Marty had a spare new set that Tom eagerly grabbed and shoved into his ears so we could then proceed.. but shhh dont let our China Tom know that they were made in PRC. Gee i do hope his ears dont fall off now or something

I left them at Maratya as Had some other thing on today.. RGS went well thought should use it as the poor thing missed out on its big trip last weekend...but May and July/August should see it get some more use... oh and Tom has a photo of Nick who has a way lot more faith in the needle valves on his Mikuni‘s than some of us it seems.. Tom is the new fuel tap policemen it seems.. cant wait for the money shot there Tom

Brake light globe broke on the way home Brett, so back to standard . Was a Honda 3 prong globe too! 750’s don’t vibrate much......

It looked very pink to me against the Red Fuel container, my eyes are not the best but it wasn't very bright to me. Seems someone lost a few rear sprocket fixings, Marty has good eyesight and noticed that. I am going to check my spokes, the bike got very unstable heading home, but it was pretty windy out there. I passed a couple of Huskys heading to the ferry, and funnily enough one was an old skiing and dirtbike mate. I better arrange a ride as his SS Bevel doesn't get out much.

So now my left ear is ringing something fierce after using that shitfull MIC earplug, thanks Marty it was better than nothing.

Thanks Marty, they were a lifesaver but compared to the moulded ones they really dont do much.
Had to pull over on the way home and check that one of my pipes didnt have a crack in it....
the difference was that much.
Brett has probably disappeared out the back to work on his plumbing....

I've never worn ear plugs on a bike. I find that deafness works well to muffle any noise.

Seriously though, It's true that I've rarely used ear plugs on a bike, but my hearing hasn't suffered. I had a hearing test a couple of years ago and my listeners are quite normal for an old fart of my advancing decrepitude.

There's a couple of reasons I don't use plugs. One is that I've not found any that don't give me an ear ache after a while. Another reason is that I actually like to hear what's going on around me.

Modern helmets are designed with hearing protection in mind. While there are no standards in place that compel manufacturers to do so, there is market pressure to make helmets as quiet as practical. My current Bell helmet does a pretty good job of attenuating outside noises. Although I see in motorcycling media that you can now buy helmets with active noise cancelling built in.

Like the ONE Tom lost I used Ear Moulds but mine come with electronic speaker wires attached. I needed to trim 2mm off their length as originally they did hurt after 3 or 4 hours. The speakers help when I inevitably end up on some mind numbing expressway for in my case at least an hour and sometimes MUCH longer. They also help with the GPS Speed Camera alerts, and that what happens when you live 10ks from the GPO in biggest city in Oz.

What do you mean WHAT. The only way to any rides we do that doesn't have me doing 60 to 80ks of expressway is North to the old rd. The Putty is to me 2ks of Suburbia to the Gore Hill Freeway, M2 then M7 for 60ks then the horrible Bela Vista crap. Bells is the same plus that 40ks of 60kph crap to Kuragoung. South is the Airport Expressway to Brightly Sands and then 50ks of Traffic Light infessed Princess Hwy. I am virtually surrounded by Tolled Expressway in every direction and its extremely hard to avoid them from my place to anywhere. And its 100 times worse heading home from all these rides on a Sunday afternoon in traffic. That's when the earbuds and music make it much more tolerable. And that why I am always first to arrive at the meet, anything that allows me LESS traffic I try for. Maybe my time in the bush has spoiled me for city living.
