I had forgotten how much fun ripping around on a Laverda is, just a magic day. The weather was crisp and clear, we all passed the one and only cop early on, I noticed he was going really slow as I passed him, something to do with someone doing an overtake he didn't like, we had no interaction, zero breeze, great visibility not including blind bends, the bike was running really well including the fork changes, not much traffic going, some slow coaches heading back but even that didn't piss me off much. Managed to dodge some wheel braking-sized potholes, more luck than good management, Great egg and bacon rolls, friendly staff, some random couple gave us plenty of Carlos gossip from his big night out. I noticed it said on one of those big RTA signs accident at Cowan, I then arrived at the PITS hill and stated up only to discover 3 highway patrol cars and the RTA serious crash truck and a big crowd of riders, I was thinking RBT as they do that on occasion, NOPE it was a big bike accident, I have no other info. I then tried to buy some pies at Pie in the Sky but the Que was massive and it was Chok a bloc so I went home. Just a great day out on the bike. More like that, please.

Nice work Vince, was good to see you out again,
not much more to add,
Nick narrowly missed getting fined while on the wrong side of double whites, my guess is the cyclists gave the copper room
to move in his judgment.
Stu got emotional again on the way home.....
Carlo's mate turned up, apparently Carlo did have a big night, footage is on youtube if anyone is interested...
El Presidente turned up but just a little late that's all.
Brett was on the drummer.
All in all a top day to be out.

Here's are some pics

Yes was a really good day weather wise more a spring day than a winter one.. didn’t have the best of nights and woke up not feeling all that great might have had something to do with the whiskey sours I was drinking last night watching the Moto GP qualifying.. anyways decided to take the drum brake bike out … when got to the Berowra was surprised to see more than Tom there ( as was thinking of not going but then thought poor Tom would be there by himself. ) even Vince had made an effort and he was sitting there waiting for us.
Not sure why Nick decided to pull out and overtake when he did as I had seen the white 300C coming the other way obviously Nick didn’t but he got away with it it seems. Then at Pete’s ridge he was pulled over to the side but waved us on by… later we found he had bike issues so decided to turn back.. bugger would have been an opportunity for me to do the same just quietly.

Anyway I was content to trundle on now behind Vince for a good part of the way until he waved me past when the fun stuff came up.. hmm needed to remind myself which bike I was on but.. the brakes on that are nothing like that of some others which I have been riding of late.. still was good dodging pot holes to save those spindly legs up fronot….

I left kind of early to head back as had a pile of stuff to get done … gave Chris a wave as he was heading the other direction guess he slept in … was wishing I had done just quietly… some big Jap bikes went past which kind of woke me up so had a bit of fun in the twisties with them.

Vince the RBT was on the Old PAC and had a guy in a Golf out of his car when I went by then came round the bend ( where the camera guys usually hand and there was guy laying on the road with a police car blocking traffic and loads of bikes everywhere .. zero ambulance but the tail back was right up the hill basically to the pie in the sky… looks like someone over committed to the corner would be my guess.

So does anyone know what did happen to Nick I might ask and poor Stu again he has electrical issues.. you would think his mate from the area would help him out…

I mainly noticed the crowd, I was busy doing a last-second lane change when I discovered my lane had a couple of Cop Cars parked there, that was the middle lane heading up the hill, no notice and then I was suddenly on them. I did a head check and was past before I could see what the hell was happening.

I was motoring along when suddenly the bike died; pulled over and stopped. Switch off and on and it restarted just fine. Did it again within 10 kms so I decided that breaking down close to home was better than pushing on and did a u-turn. On the ride back it occurred maybe 8 more times, sometimes it would pick-up again, sometimes I rolled to a halt and it restarted straight away. I figure it is a loose connection, although I'm curious why on the whole stopping the bike would enable it to restart without issues.

Re the double whites - mmm, the car in front was definitely over the doubles, not so sure I was. It was a massive group of cyclists and FYI you are allowed to cross doubles to overtake cyclists I believe.

You are right Nick, supposed to give them 1 metre clearance AND you are allowed to cross the doubles if it is safe.

re the stopping. Sounds like you have a wire loose in a terminal somewhere, or a ring termination that is loose. Classic case for both in my experience.
Never having owned a series 2, I don't know where to look, but would suggest all your earth (common) connections and the multi pin connector(s) onto the ignition module.

Nick, if you're using a Sasch ignition check the screws holding the wires in position on the plug entering the module. I've had this problem before.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago and it was the HT plug cap... strange that it restarted immediately every time.
I was 270 Ks from home but it came good after 100 Ks and never missed a beat after that.
