Coming Soon

The 750 Formula is starting to get some decent bids- too bad it isn't an SF750 that I would otherwise bid on. Do these have some sort of engine issue?

A couple of my favourites ..........

" If genius is pain , then I`m in agony ... " .......... ( Charles Dickens ) .......

" Dogs look up to you , cats look down on you ..... but pigs treat you as equals ..... " ........ ( Winston Churchill ) ...........

Not forgetting .......

Lady Astor ....... " If I were your wife Mr Churchill , I would put poison in your whisky .... " .......
Winston Churchill ........ " And if I were your husband madam , I should drink it ....... " .........

" Things are never as good , or as bad , as they first seem ... " ..... ( US Army General Paton ) ...........

I often use: Gorbachev talking to Ronald Reagan during their famous get together.

“Don’t fuck with me Ronnie”

If it’s true or not makes no difference, still fun to say.

The 'covert' agent started this thread!
That figures! The revised listing should make interesting reading.

I'm glad it didn't end because of lack of interest. It deserves to be cherished for 'what it is, and what it could be'

Only needs 'that is the question' on the end and we've got another quote...

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." Maya Angelou AKA “The Agent”

Some comedy gold on here and no mistake. Could do with it's own thread, this.

Don't think it's my place, maybe one of the 'Elders of the Forum' could knock one up? 🙃

Title? Something like: 'Quotes in the Shed', 'This Weeks Quote' or 'Your Favourite Quote'........... 🤔

.........Quite like 'Quote Vadis' myself...

Ok, I'll get me coat, but just before that I'll leave you with:

"Have a good time, all the time. That's my philosophy Marty"........... Viv Savage, Spinal Tap........🤙

They can do - that’s a later one so type three crank which is good - the cranks were either good or bad so if it’s a bad one it would have had work or be very rattly - they need regular oil changes - it’s not like a jap bike that you can thrash mercilessly but they are quite quick - will do about 130 mph - 6th is an overdrive really - they have some inherent issues like the stater motor circuit that is not just man enough but you can take steps to alleviate that

I wouldn’t be so sure it has the type 3 crank, and they aren’t much better than the original in terms of the bearing issue. I would be a bit disappointed if only did 130 as I can do that on my 650/668.

All of the cranks in these things let go eventually. There may be a very few that might survive quite decent mileage if pampered, but the machining faults are inherant to all of them. No amount of expensive, fresh oil can cure the fault.

Once properly rebuilt they can stand up to an amazing amount of abuse, just like any other roller crank, then other things go pear-shaped... :ROFLMAO:

I seem to recall a list of recall modifications for the 668 and maybe the 750 including things like checking or changing the crank alternator retaining nut .... ( the castellated one was duff , or something like that ..... for gawds sake don`t take my word for it ... ) ....... drilling holes to let water drain out from around the ECU or fusebox ....... and six or seven other things to either check / have modified / get replaced ............

Sorry to be a bit vague , but it was a while ago .......... maybe issued by Three Cross .........

I also remember a 750S engine sitting in Slaters showroom ...... ( although the bikes were no longer their responsibility ) ....... with the crank gone , according to Richard .

I also recall a pair ( I think ) of Formulas being raced in the UK with technical input from a Mike Russell de Clifford .... ( apologises if incorrect ) .........

Others will probably be more knowledgeable ........... ( Hi Andy ! ) ...............

PS ...... It was Baines / Three Cross who entered the bikes ........ Riders Geoff Baines and Russ Joyner ......... A company called Alto Performance also got involved with the Baines / 3X team ........ another rider was Pete Whitelegg , and according to Alto`s Ben Shaughnessy , the 11,000 rpm 750 was making " a bit over 100 bhp " ....... but obviously they were going to struggle when up against 160 bhp 999`s ..........

One last word from Shaughnessy ........ " Use Rock oil , change it frequently , warm up the engine gently and they don`t go wrong . Basically it`s a good engine which with the right bits ... ( ! ) .... can be made into a great engine .......... If you see one of these bikes going cheap , grab it .... they`re damned good value .... " ........

Quick ..... get your bid in now !!!! ........ ( there`s also a really nice looking orange / silver 750 Formula going for £ 6500 on UK Ebay btw ... ) .........

I listed a bike -Harley XR1200- on Iconic last July. They assigned a "handler" who did a decent job of vetting me, the pics the bike. Had to answer a list of questions including; length of ownership, known blemishes, mechanical problems & reason for selling.

And earlier this week, I bought one from the "buy-it-now" listings on their site. They handled the back and forth of offer and counteroffer, and took an active role in putting the two of us together and arranging transport, etc.
Abhi and his crew at Iconic seem to be straight shooters and the real deal......... I haven't purchased anything through Iconic but I have had some very positive interactions with Abhi. :)
