“The only reason they don’t fly lower, is that they don’t have flush rivets!”
I remember a road test from the era, complained that even with it's awesome good looks, you couldn't pick up chicks because of the single seat...I had an XLX 1000 sportster ( like that but with flat bars and triple discs) I bought to see what all the Harley thing was all about. I rode it to work everyday, all weather for a year and to be honest it wasn’t particularly good at anything. I gave it a fair crack of the whip to see if it would grow on me..it didn’t. To each his own as they say.

I was lucky enough to be at West Malling for an Air Show, back in the late '80s IIRC, a Vulcan was flying low passes down the runway. Can't say he was as low as Hanna in the Spitfire but he had re-heat (afterburner) on and the flames were touching the tarmac.“The only reason they don’t fly lower, is that they don’t have flush rivets!”
I saw a Bond Bug ,covered up ,in the back of a garage whilst picking up a Guzzi, I asked the Guy if he ever sold it give me first shout….he called my bluff and I ended up buying the bloody thing. I gave it to my Wife as a surprise present …” I’m not driving that F# cking thing,”
.......... It`s orange , and it`s quick ........ but it`s not a Jota ... ( or even a KTM ) ............. Drivers expression when flooring it is quite amusing .
Quite old , not sure if I`ve put this up before ..... but still good fun .
They should have made a four wheel version ......... that would have been quite neat .........I saw a Bond Bug ,covered up ,in the back of a garage whilst picking up a Guzzi, I asked the Guy if he ever sold it give me first shout….he called my bluff and I ended up buying the bloody thing. I thought she’d love it![]()
Steve (?) from Punters garage in Hayes built a V6 Ford Reliant chassis 1/4 mile sprinter because the 3 wheel record was so low. My mate Goddard scrutineered it, built over a weekend out of scrapThey should have made a four wheel version ......... that would have been quite neat .........
If I recall , parent company Reliant made a four wheel version of the Robin which they called the Kitten ..........................
You could drive these things on a motorcycle licence ....... so the Bug was quite an astute attempt to divert your average younger rider away from two wheels ........ as with you , by the sound of it , I always thought they looked great .
When some American took the world land speed record with a jet powered three wheeler at god knows how many hundreds of miles per hour , he received a message from Reliant in Tamworth congratulating him on his choice of a three wheeled layout , explaining that just like him , they also had much success over the years with a similar layout used on their 65 mph Regals , Robins , and Supervans .............
Yes, what a rider! And Laverda content - see @ 2:35 rhs on the meadow ...
Apart from showcasing the spectacular talents of the now departed Go Show ......... there is also something of direct interest to followers of this forum ........
Yes , there it is ........ at 2 : 36 ......... over towards the right , just next to that two wheel eyesore that went by the name of BMW K1 ...........
..... it`s a red 750 SF ............ anyone on here from the `tipodes wish to claim ownership ? ............
Aaron Slight wasn`t too shabby either !Fark me, what rider!! No traction control or fancy tronics - just absolutely ride the wheels off it!! No idea who's red SF that is ... keen bit o' bike spotting!
