Which is why I love owning a Laverda ... over the 50 years you kinda learn every little inherent weakness and find ways to build a solution into it.

It's also why if I bought a used one the first thing I'd probably do is strip the motor into every last piece and reconstruct it 'my way'.

Gene Romero switched straight from a works Triumph 750 triple to a TZ750 and said it was like the difference between night and day .......

He said open it up on the straight and it would plant your visor against your nose ....... the trouble was , before it went mono shock , was a near terminal high speed weave which would make itself felt around 150 - 160 mph ..........

When he told team manager Kel Carruthers about this , Kel`s response was ... " Well what do you expect me to do about it ? ...." ........

Gene reckoned if he backed out now , he would have to find a normal job ........ so he stuck with it , and found the weave was a little like an engine vibration patch ......... ride through it and everything would smooth at higher speeds............

I always find this guy extremely relaxing to listen to ............

He sounds like he`s commentating on a snooker match rather than talking about piloting an EA-18 ...........


I often carry out ` signature moves ` when I`m trying to get comfortable on the bike ............ as he says , ` don`t ask about it ` ....... ! ................

This woman has some skills in an aircraft.


I'm not a pilot, but I have a basic understanding of aerodynamic theory. I find it interesting to watch this video because you can see all the flight inputs the pilot is making with the stick, rudder and throttle. You can also see the rudder deflection. It's all pretty normal and boring up to about 16:30 when the fun starts. She chucks that plane all over the sky with some pretty radical control inputs.

Faark! I have to wonder what she had for breakfast and how she held it down! Imagine being a fukn passenger! I quite liked the buildup - all lazy and relaxed and then these violent movements, hair up, neg G then pushed down hard, legs and arms going all over the joint. That was quite mesmerising, Cam. Either shedloads of hours with a teacher in a two-seater or shedloads of hours in a simulator or both. The plane is bloody amazing, motor just in the zone all the time, grunt city - thing probably only weighs about 300 kilos!

Watching his videos you get the impression that NYC is actually a bit of a dump ....... even around places like Times Square ......
Don`t get me wrong , it`s ok , but still a bit of a dump .......

Also , being used to `seventies movies and tv , I still think of New York Yellow Cabs as being big old American cars ....... Plymouths , Fords , Oldsmobiles and so on ........ It`s a bit of a disappointment to see they`re now boring people carrier things made in South Korea or somewhere ..........

Actually I take it back ....... some parts of Manhattan look nice ....... It`s just the parts he rides through that look a bit crap ........
