Graham Hill was James Bond meets Dick Dastardly- very funny Guy with more personality Than the whole of FI start grid put together. Jackie Stewart & him are like a python sketch, love it.
Two wheels too many , but the Hill / Stewart double act was quite amusing ........ Also worth watching for the 1969 Monza GP finish ........ Stewart said in later years that he thought Hill was a good , not necessarily great driver , but Hill was F1 champ twice , won Monaco GP in 1963 , 1964 , 1965 , 1968 and 1969 ..... and the only driver to win a F1 Championship , and win the Indy 500 , and win the LeMans 24 hour ........ ( Triple Crown ) .....
When I did Enduro I got beaten by Ladies champ Emma Clack, three times on the trott, always by one place, she was my nemesis.
No real comparison but I did 5 laps of Eastern Creek in the lunchtime parade once and there was this young lady riding a Pink Monster that I tried very hard to pass. I also remember riding up the big hill to the Pie in the Sky beside another young lady on a GSXR, very tidy she was too. And my favourite, following another lady through The Royal National Park and Mac Pass on a combined NSW Laverda ride and Girls Ride Out Club, she was bloody quick. Turn out to be Muiltipal 125cc Oz National Champ and 125cc GP wild card at Philp Island. There are some really fast women out there.
Plenty of SF1,2,3 and earlier end up down the chiropractor friendly path of conversion to SFC wannabes.Maybe Laverda should have made 14,000 SFC replicas , and 549 ( or whatever it was ) SF 1 , 2 , and 3`s ...........
I was being slightly tongue in cheek ..... What I really meant was that the SF2 / SFC conversion looks so good , maybe Laverda should have produced a few more in that style , rather than just the limited batch SFC`s ......... They could have always eased the riding position slightly , for either sex of rider ......... the ability to contort the body into seemingly impossible positions is probably more down to age , rather than gender ........Plenty of SF1,2,3 and earlier end up down the chiropractor friendly path of conversion to SFC wannabes.
And why the F should not women be able to ride fast, is it a macho sport?

Why would you want one of those when you could buy a Seeley Honda 750 F2 anointed by Phil Read for 30% of the cost and have much more street cred?
Be it SFC replicas or Rob Norths, it would have cost a fortune and not sold much.

You are of course quite right concerning the Triumphs, but Honda's commercial department was better. It's they who sell the bikes. And make them for that matter, mostly.Maybe , but I still feel a Rob North styled triple would have sold well ........ the Daytona , Isle of Man , Bol d`Or , Mallory Park and AMA series victories were still fresh in the minds of prospective BSA / Triumph purchasers , and a triple styled that way would have had much more appeal than the " bread bin " T150`s and Rocket 3`s ......... , or even the beauty - kitted `stateside versions .....
As for cost , it would be basically a cosmetic make over .......... tank , seat , fairing , three into one ........ I`m sure Rob North could have been talked into producing a limited run of his frames , or given permission for BSA / Triumph to copy it ....... It may even dragged up sales of the standard triples along with it .......
As for as a Laverda twin styled more along the lines of the SFC ....... Just my wishful thinking ......... I`m just imagining a world where all Laverda twins would look like a SFC ........ not much use in practical terms for carrying a tent , the girlfriend / wife , or a sack of potatoes , but who cares when you would look so cool .........
Seeley Honda CB750 .... ??????? ...... The racing pedigree and number of race victories scored by a Rob North Trident would make a Seeley SOHC CB750 blush with embarrassment ......... If anyone back then thought " street cred " meant Honda Style matching leathers , helmet , and boots , then the Seeley Honda might well have impressed ........ However , I get the feeling that anyone who had the chance to purchase a Rob North Trident , would have not given a stuff about " street cred" ..... and instead just be happy owning and riding a machine with a racing DNA that kicks the Seeley into touch ........
BTW ... was Phil Read actually associated with the Seeley F2 ..... he may have been , but all I remember is him appearing in Honda adverts for the standard CB750 F2 .....( dressed in his normal leathers , I think , not in matching Honda Style leathers helmet and boots , thank Christ ) ........ and then there was a Phil Read " Replica " Honda CB750 , but again I think this was just a tarted up standard bike , not a Seeley ......... Maybe completely wrong , time to dive into the archives again ..........
It's already happening, keeps our Laverda relatively preserved from the look of the Joneses.Great ....... now everyone is going to want to doll up their old CB750 and make out like Phil Read farted on it once upon a time!

While we're indulging in hindsight... a factory Slippery Sam replica would have been an easy winner, I imagine the appropriate parts would all have been available ex factory. Oil leaks provided FOC.Maybe , but I still feel a Rob North styled triple would have sold well ........ the Daytona , Isle of Man , Bol d`Or , Mallory Park and AMA series victories were still fresh in the minds of prospective BSA / Triumph purchasers , and a triple styled that way would have had much more appeal than the " bread bin " T150`s and Rocket 3`s ......... , or even the beauty - kitted `stateside versions .....
