Dymags and tyres

Well, I ran the slicks on my Dymags tubeless....

Without going out and looking at the bare dymag hanging on the workshop wall, I seem to remember there's a security ridge on the inner side of the bead seating area which would indicate they were designed for tubeless use.
Incidentally they are powdercoated/painted for a reason - they're porous and won't hold air without a sealant coating.

Mark,
My old RG had Dymags which ran tubeless. If you're buying some old Dymags make sure you have a good look at them and also check the size! There were some odd sized racing tyres around in the 80s...When I ran my RG on the road for a while I had to use cut slicks, there were no suitable road tyres available.

I have a set of Dymags on my 900SS racer and used them tubeless for about 10 yrs. But they do lack the tire retention rib on the inner bead area.In the interest of security I would run tubes if used on the street. On a racer with constant tire pressure monitoring they should be fairly safe unless off track excursions are frequent. Being magnesium it would also be prudent to have them crack tested unless their history is well known.
