Engine mounts 120 Jota

84 X 6 is 504, roughly $1000aud. That's a lot of beer! I like free holes. Problem with the shore hardness thing , that reading was done by Mackay "a couple of years ago", when they had already turned to wood. I wonder what the shore hardness is of a lump of radiata pine?

Dont know if you read that Rubber Tech bit I found Marty but Shore Hardness is 1 of 2 measures required to spec Rubber components. The relevant bit is at the end of the article and is used to spec Rubbers elastic property, that's more important to reduce vibration transmission from what I can see. This specs Rubber and Ploy as well.
Both IRHD and shore scales give measurements of hardness on a scale of 0 - 100 degrees. The difference between these two methods comes from the fact that the Shore Scales are linear, based on the deflection of the rubber, whereas IRHD is a non-linear scale related to the elastic modulus of the material. For highly elastic rubbers, Shore A and IRHD give comparable values. A comparison of hardness values for IRHD and Shore A Hardness is shown in the table bel

Ouch, wasn't aware the Pacific Peso had depreciated so much...

Once the weather warms up a bit I'll have a go at re-pouring some with PU, I'll let you know how it goes Marty. I think I went for Shore 40 for a start.

it is a high price, I agree. However, they are produced in very small batches, the material costs a bit, he has to pre-finance everything including the research etc. etc., not talking about paying tax from it...

years ago I had contact with the original manufacturerer of the neutral switch. Seeing that I had at least to buy 3.000 to make it somewhat cost effective, I ended up sourcing the 2 or 3 I needed at that time in UK for around 30€ each... sure that was way beyond the production cost, but considering how many you sell, you need to cover the cost of all 3.000 with the maybe 100 - 200 you sell in 5 years... These things are almost one-offs made in Europe, not mass products produced somewhere cheap in China as we all for sure know...

Might be worth checking out?

Rattle ya dentures free that stuff!
Natural rubber for me……..are they still growing it commercially?

Had a Ford car, not very old with irs. There was a loud clunk every time I took off from standstill

Took it to a suspension place who told me the diff centre mounts were toast…. but not covered by Fords warranty

So, they made their own polyurethane mounts and fitted them

Picked up the car and no more clunk … happy happy

But at and over 80klm

But at and over 80klm the fucken vibrations were unbearable….. seems the had to make another mould with Swiss Cheese holes in it. That fixed it, but they confirmed that mine were the first they’d done for that car. Used me as a crash test dummy 🙄

When I modified the frame for my race bike where I put a 120 deg SFC engine in a early triple frame I made the engine mounts by myself using the bushes of Koni/ Icon dampers.
