Evel Knievel Laverda

I actually saw Knievel jump that bike on live TV.

Big promotional adds on TV leading up to the jump - Believe he broke his back in that one !

Any Breganzie enthusiast's know Laverda's were designed to ride asphalt - Not for jumping !
 
The bike is real - Knievel did jump a modified Breganzie 750S - Ask Wolfgang; hope he backs me up !

I remembering seeing it live on TV - Knievel wiped out on the main televised jump but not before performing preliminary staged jumps with the bike.
 
Ron-not doubting if Knievel jumped AE/Laverda but questioning if the Montana bike was an actual jump bike.
 
I agree - Doubt if the bike ever recovered: BUT, I meet Knievel's Son in a hospital way back when. He had a broken leg and I had broken nick. He was in a wheel chair and I was in traction.

What a suck! Handed off a joint of Black Opiate Afghan Hashes to him to keep him from crying - ROFL !

The joint was a gift to me from a friend, as if I could smoke it in my condition ;o(

I didn't break my neck on a motorcycle but over a broken tie rod end in a 75 Volvo 240 GL when I parked her in a BIG Elm tree.

Big change in my Life after that accident that I don't want to get in to; but, regretfully shutting all the women in my life out of the picture.  I did marry 5 years later at 38 and she was 30 and came with 3 kids and we we had 3. Time passes - One amazing thing is I can not believe how much a Woman's body endures bearing children - What a privilege !

My Wife died of COPD and my children have grown up and on their own - So have I. My Wife was jealous, not only for other women but particular of my Breganzie which I had to give up while we were together.

at least one of Evil's (my spelling) bikes was equipped with Bosch starter and seprate pre engaged solenoid on the top and with a different dynamo belt cover as there is no starter clutch (prototypes only and probably only two off) he also had a sidecar for parading around the arena,I wonder what the chassis numbers are
I have recorded 1053 1242 (sidecar) ans 1243 as "highly likely"

1053 was recorded (by me) as under restoration in August 2020

none of these numbers mentioned above is early enough for the Bosch starter which is clearly visible in the videos on U tube.

Same with  Steve McQueens bikes, he owned many and it could be as much as eight Husqvarna dirt bikes, always bough in pairs of 250 and 400 and always purchased by "Solar Productions" his film company. There is no difintive list of what was actually his, although some vehicles are obvious, such as His Jaguar XKSS one of only sixteen to survive the fire at the Browns lane factory, more have since been recovered, but hundreds were totally scrap.

No Chris. It was a short distance up the road so I had a look and I liked it. At the end of the day there was nothing to substantiate why that turbo was fitted and if it worked so I did not make an offer.

I think the ?fakes? that Evel sold were the Harleys that were used in cinemas For the pay per view Snake River Canyon jump. Evel and his mechanic cobbled up some replicas from bits and sold them with letters of authenticity. The one that arrived in UK had no engine internals , none, empty cases! Still what do you expect - one careful owner?

Thanks for posting this. i walked into the TIG welder's shop that I use today - and there was a mint 650 Unit Triumph Rickman dirt bike.

I commented that it looks too good to have ever been used. It genuinely does...
Anyway the welder told me that the owner has the certificate of authenticity from Steve McQueen's estate. One of FOURTEEN the estate sold, LOL

Nice bike - but waaaay too dear.
 
If you google Metisse Motorcycles they can sell you a brand new bike (refurbished lump) based on McQueen's favourite desert bike back in the day. The McQueen estate have authorised, I believe, three hundred bikes. Worth a look.
