Fairing/handle bar clash

Hi.

I'm new to forum and have had a Jota stored for a few years but have finally dragged her out to start riding her (bought, stored, not ridden un anger yet).

I have found that in full lock my brake and clutch levers foul on the fairing and applying the brake (not so much the clutch). The bike has clip on bars - maybe lower than standard?

I can see few ways of solving the iasue. Firstly change the bars if the original ones are higher (as they'll be in the larger part of the cut out). Second, put on less curved levers (as the fouling isn't huge), or third, drop the fairing height (that's a faff).

Can you tell me a) what bars should be on it and b) can I get less curvy levers.

If your Jota is a genuine example, it came with Laverda's patent (brevattato) bars. These are clamped under the alloy instrument bracket so sit higher (notwithstanding the fact that they are multi adjustable). No standard Jota came with clip ons below the top yoke.1000047290.jpg

Thanks. I have no if the history of the bike so couldn't tell you what changes have been made (or even if it's just a 3C or a Jota) but looks like the simple answer to my question is to change the bars! Thank you.

You'll also find you enjoy riding tour Jota a lot more if you get the bars above that race clipon position. Many on here are even losing the std bars to get even higher. An alternative is to drop the forks through the clamps enough to allow fitment of the clipons above the top clamp. might quicken up the steering a rad and will make a huge diff to ergonomics. later RGS models employed this system.

That's good advice. What bars would you suggest?

I have an SS Bevel Ducati fairing with the Headlight Speedo and Tacho mounted in the fairing. Finding a set of handlebars that are at a comfortable height and angle and a big enough steering arc that misses any contact with your dash and fuel tank is not easy.
