Fairing/handle bar clash

Thanks. I should learn more about Laverda as a marque - any recommended reading?
The ILOC 50th anniversary book is a great read - lots of info from owners experience - with great pics

Plan to come to the New Inn Willersey nr Broadway Worcs on the 3rd August for the 50th Jota celebration - should be 250 plus Laverdas there and many people who are part of the Laverda story in UK

Thanks. I'll certainly try and make that.

And I'll order the book.

"later RGS models employed this system."
beware that the RGS series had longer forks than the 180'S. dropping the legs through on a 180 and fitting clip ons above the top yolk would cause the front wheel/mudguard to clash with the exhaust front pipes. unless you stop by only using the rear brake (wincing in horour) but I have a mate who has done that for 40+ years, still scares me.

'System' as in the concept of clipons above top clamps.

I suspected as much, Clem, which is why I mentioned the longer fork cap idea. I've made them up for 35 Ceris, 38 Ceris, 38 Marzos, 41mm Honda VFR forks, early 41mm GSX-R forks and OW01 forks (very complicated, with rebound damping and preload built into the caps).

If your Jota is a genuine example, it came with Laverda's patent (brevattato) bars. These are clamped under the alloy instrument bracket so sit higher (notwithstanding the fact that they are multi adjustable). No standard Jota came with clip ons below the top yoke.View attachment 97116
I fell off doing a U turn on my brand new 81 3CL/Jota because of the bars hitting the fairing.
