Flooding in the Pacific Northwest

I hope all the members who call the Pacific Northwest home are safe on high ground. The flooding there has cut major highways and caused major damage to the area.
 
Northwestern corner of Washington state, Whatcom county; the flooding impact has not been seen since prior to flood management controls went into place middle of last century…and you’ll still see yahoos tubing and paddle boarding down the roads in non-knickers in the shite water.
 
Sent an email to Wolfgang to hear how they are doing, no reply yet. Has anybody had contact with him in the past 2 days?

The Nooksack River bust its dykes and levees and made a real mess. The water then flowed across the border and flooded Sumas Prairie in BC. Sumas Prairie used to be Sumas Lake. It is now Sumas Lake and the water is 3 meters deep in places.

I’m just west of the major shite show, completely unaffected, but work only 300 metres from what is now a 7x16 km lake. I work with one fellow who has his home under 3 metres of water, another who cannot get to work because the main Hwy (#1) is under the lake. Finally a third co worker had to sleep in his truck for 4 days before a one time single file guided route to evacuate everyone west to metro Van City.
I’ll just point out that living beside a river bed, a large body of water, below or on top of a rock face or cliff, or a flood plain, do carry possibilities like this event. Callous perhaps, but common sense should play a factor in ones place of residence instead of emotional attraction.
 
Wolfgang's place is on high ground so I doubt very much that his property is under water. However, Nakusp could well be cut off from the rest of the Province at this time.

I believe that it was between 200 and 250 mm for a few different places in the vicinity. That was over about 30 hours. The main problem was the river in USA breaching its banks and flowing into the same area. Add the two together and you can understand how they got to be completely fucked.

Then there was this guy ....... don't know the story but it doesn't get to much closer to being "destination fucked" for this SUV and trailer.

One dead and four missing at this time ...... as you can see some of the landslides moved a lot of material so it may be a long time before they can ascertain whether anyone moved with the material.
As for livestock and such it is believed thousands of dairy cattle and 100's of thousands of poultry may have perished.

I shouldn't be making jokes about this but how is the Toilet Paper situation. It's apparently much more important than food water shelter or electric power. I know what would worry me and it isn't wiping my arse in times like this.
