Forum speed

After a week of behaving, the gremlins are back! It took me about 7 attempts and 10 minutes to get here. Images fail to load, navigation is a PITA. Again, it seems this is the only web site affected, everything else works as it should.

Yes, cache is empty, cookies etc. deleted.

Any ideas?

Since the latest major forum software change, almost 4 years back I think, my connection worked perfectly for some weeks. After that, the connection times out all the time. Everything works perfectly if I'm not logged in, but then it is not possible to post anything. Have changed several settings with no result, also emptied history, cookies and cache possibly 200 times this far altogether. No similar issues with any other site. I suspect it's something on the computer's Firewall or similar, as even the internet connection has changed. Possibly the issue will be solved when I replace the whole computer next time :)
Currently Windows 10 and Firefox 133.0 (64-bit). It is very likely Russia when my banking services don't work, but that happens just randomly.
 
I've just updated to the latest Windows 11 something or other and also have the most up to date Firefox browser. I'll see how I get on, but it hasn't been too bad recently. Currently I have more issues with my 'smart' Samsung TV that repeatedly drops out of connection. A one hour TV programme can sometimes take days to watch.... (and I still blame the Russians)

Gremlins nasty as ever atm.

I've now tried Chrome and Edge browsers, both seem even slower than Firefox. Still on Win10 though. Adblocker off, checked Firewall. As before, everything else running as it should, just this address is playing up!

Ideas..... anybody??

Russia's a good scapegoat, Mad Vlad shifting his priorities and now targeting bike groups? ;) (smiley took almost a minute to load, many images, as well as avatars, won't load at all!)

..reads platform specific, Piet. Can happen without warning, witnessed several years ago on MS zealous use of "security protection" and inability to narrow down the exact reason. Shotgun technique applied, swap to alternate MS platform version. Slow or nil internet access cured. Just wasted days and days trying to locate the reason for the corrupted WWW access all of a sudden.

Hardware is cheap these days, am a Linux Ubuntu ( was Redhat ) instructor one time, all i use. Though i keep a spare ex gov. Dell Optiplex 9020 with Win10 on it to support apple ipad repairs i do at times. All the working machines here are DEll 9020's with 256G SSD i-7 procc installed and Ubuntu installed. For a few hundred dollars each i have 4 workstations and a never repeated HP laptop, erratic problems with HP, a brand i do not purchase at all these days. Not sure it helps though i would change platform version Piet to save the sanity, usually in company with new or more recent hardware upgrade alas.

FWIW i have 7 apple ipads here, you can use them to do quick checks on items such as this forum. When main workstation seems to be not working. Use ipads for stage work, hence the 7 or more in stock here. HTH j.
