No Chott or 2T ever had an engine number and Moto Laverda built the engines.
James confirms this is the case with his bike, the 200 gemini, Moto Laverda built that engine as well.
when new SFC 750's did have matching numbers, but in the early days, especially 5000 series, not generally for sale to the public, the motors were stripped after every 24 hour race and did not always go back into the original chassis, hence genuine SFC's with not matching numbers, and (much later) duplication of chassis numbers where owners changed the numbers to match the engine that was in the bike, and of course the Dutch ones which were given road bike identities in order to get into competition as homologated.
