Fuel cap problems RGS

I’ve found the solution (for now?). I’ve replaced the hardened rubber gasket with a cork gasket with a slightly larger outer diameter (the hollow pipes just happened to be this size)
The cork comes from a sheet of cork gasket material that I’d had lying around for years.

I’ve filled the tank and so far there are no leaks. I also had to remove the tank briefly and, fortunately, there were no leaks there either. We’ll see how the cork holds up in the long term.

I suspect it may not hold up the repeated install and removal when filling the tank. Keep us updated....I have some cork gasket material lying around....for the last 30 years.
