Fuel stabilizer for off season motorycle storage

I remember the vehicle research institute testing these and found they did nothing & they were withdrawn from sale and bike dealers were advised not to sell them. They have re-emerged as an eBay special ..still don’t work.
Magnets attached to fuel line also don’t work- the same magnets also don’t cure your ageing dog from arthritis or stop hard water from chalking up your kettle. The soft valve seat scare when unleaded was introduced also was unfounded- loads of old vehicles not affected - interestingly, only bike I have ever seen significant seat recession was on Yamaha five valve head 1000 EXUP but this may have been caused by tight clearances and prolonged high revs.
Yes , I wasn`t sure at the time ( early `eighties ) if they would make any difference but I thought I would give them a go and since they didn`t appear to be doing any harm I just left them in there anyway .

My main concern was valve seat / guide lubrication , and the detrimental effect of having to use unleaded would have on that ( If at all ) .

I had no idea what these things were made of ( still don`t ) , I always imagined they carried some sort of coating which would interact with the fuel in the same sort of way as adding two stroke oil to petrol creates a mix which prevents seizure in those engines...

When I first bought the bike in 1980 first valve check showed zero plus ( negative ) clearance on 4 valves , the remaining two weren`t all that great either , so had a seat / valve / guide job done by Cropredy Laverda to put things right...but that wouldn`t have been an " unleaded conversion " , just a normal valve job .

It was about then I installed these Fuel Cat things and as the bike ran perfectly well and valve clearances behaved themselves from then on , I decided to just ride rather than worry....
