I have done this hundreds of times, on all kinds of bikes and have NEVER, well there was one time I didn't lock the trailer gooseneck down to the tow bar. Pushing the bike onto the trailer which see sawed up and made a big ding in the back of my car. Enjoy others' fuckups.

Why do five people watch/ film? I used to pick bikes up with a pickup truck all over London and get a member of the public to give me a push, never had a problem. Only guy I saw ride a bike up a ramp successfully was Bert Harkins, went to pick up his 750 Honda and he said “ I’ll ride it up”- bloody well did as well!
 
I have to hold my hands up, I fucked up loading one of my maxi scooters yesterday into the van on my own. Where I have it stored, parked on the drive, I have to push it slightly up hill. Although I managed to get it up the ramp I struck difficulty getting it the last bit into the wheel chock, insufficient momentum. So I rolled it back and forth a couple of times to try again. Unfortunately on about the third attempt the back wheel slipped off the back, missed the ramp, and the bike became beached on the centre stand mounting. Luckily it just sat there whilst I went and rounded up some help. I should have ignored the bus stop, the junction etc and loaded in on the main road. 😕
 
After I saw a friend of a my brother riding a GSX-R 1100 up on the back of the truck, almost falling off the truck with the bike, I purchased a trailer short after. Not worth it simply.
 
I had an HQ Holden Ute for more than a decade, easy to load into. Those high F100 jobies are a completely different kettle of fish unless you're a high jumper with a 2-mitre instep. I have a 2.5m folding ramp for my trailer and a milk crate to step off, Typical Laverda will gound out on ramps any shorter than 2 mitres, guess how I know. 40 years of doing this I have never been brave or stupid enough to ride up into anything. I am no Duggy Lampkin. The confidence of the numbnuts in those videos amazes me

I was watching a vid on American Tractor pulling and saw this tractor and realized this tractor's name is a good description for my Laverda obsession. The run this tractor made broke something in the engine; back to the barn. Not a mistake. A conscious waste of money. Apart from the pleasure...

Yep, that’s the one. Still plenty that could have gone wrong but minimised by taking it slow.
Not to mention she’s obviously had plenty of practice handling bikes without straddling them, which is a very different skill and one that I have sorely lacked in the past.
 
The thing that impressed me about that girl is she didn't use a ramp for herself to walk up. She managed the big step up into the tray of the ute without letting the bike get out of control. I reckon that takes some balance and coordination. The clever bit was controlling the bike with the clutch so she didn't have to reach across to the throttle.

It looks like it could have all gone wrong though. The first bike almost spat the ramp out from under the rear wheel. The strap onto the tow bar was only just tight enough to catch it (at least she was smart enough to have a strap on the ramp, unlike a lot of the dickheads in other videos). There was enough slack in that strap to allow her to move the ramp about a foot sideways for the next bike. She pulled the strap tight for the second bike, but it was on an angle, so still not ideal. Anyway, she got away with it, which is all she needed to do. She certainly has some skill at handling big heavy bikes.

The lesson here boys and girls is buy (borrow or steal) a trailer.

ouch i still feel the pain of watching it topple over in slow motion while i was trying to stop the car. Lesson learned strap it down the way you always have ( with no mishaps) and dont listen to someone who thinks they know better🙀🙀

Nice ramps. I agree the geometry is crucial, but I’d argue that the security of having enough width to put your feet down is the biggest difference 👍 It allows you to change your mind and back down again if you bottom out or loose grip or whatever, without toppling off a ramp a metre off the ground.
I think I still prefer a trailer or van though!
